Submission to Governing Authorities

“13 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.”

Indeed. But our government is actually applying our laws to the J6ers.

Could be argued that the ring leader isn’t being held accountable.

If he's not it'll be because the Democrats rolled the dice on putting forward another terrible presidential candidate because Kamala couldn't be given the boot due to her race and they lost the election.

Donald Trump bears responsibility for Jan. 6 attack, Jack Smith argues in new filing

October 16, 2024

"A team of federal prosecutors led by special counsel Jack Smith said in a filing Wednesday that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump bears responsibility for the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

In a filing responding to Trump's attempt to dismiss the case, Smith's team said it "is incorrect" for Trump's team to assert that the superseding indictment returned against Trump in August does not show that Trump bears responsibility for the events of Jan. 6."

She’s the sitting VP. Of course she would get first dibs on the campaign’s money etc. after the lead candidate drops out or dies. Doesn’t have anything to do with her race. This is in people’s imaginations.

You're saying the only reason Kamala is the Democratic presidential candidate is because she gets to keep Joe Biden's money?

Vice presidents automatically get to be their party's candidate for president even if the current president is still in office during and after the election?
Polticial parties have a bunch of latitude during the primary season and before names are printed on general election ballots. It’s not a public affair until then, as far as I can tell.

So yes, it makes sense to put the VP candidate up for the top spot if the lead drops out of the race. Their campaign money and offices get to stay pretty much the same. It’s a matter of streamlining things for the party.

Exactly that. She's the only one who was on his ticket, so legally the only one entitled to that ticket's donations. Too late to start over with a better candidate, roll the dice and plan for 2028.

Ballot printing and Kamala getting to keep Joes money are the only reasons alternative Democratic presidential candidates weren't given a chance at an open convention?

Was it?

"Ezra Klein: So last week on the show, I made the argument that Democrats should pick a candidate at the convention this year. That Joe Biden is capable of doing the job of president but that his campaign is not going well, that it is not clear, to me, at least, that he is capable of running successfully for president.

This is the way political parties throughout most of American history have picked their nominees for president. But it’s a funny kind of suggestion, because it is somehow simultaneously novel and ancient."
