can we understand a simple concept, rather than demonstrating our ignorance on a subject??

IN order to vote, you have to REGISTER, in order to REGISTER, you have to have ID. Proof that you are eligible to VOTE.

Once this is accomplished and the proof supplied, a person can VOTE in their state without having to prove ANYTHING.

Once they are verified in the system as eligible, they go onto voting rolls. Once on the rolls, they DO NOT have to prove to anyone, anything else.

This notion, that a person has to show an ID to vote is so stupid, it isnt even laughable.

If they are on the voting rolls, they can vote.

Somehow, "you people" buy into the idea that a person has to requalify to vote directly at the voting booth in order to vote.

Thats ridiculous.

Thats what the REGISTRATION process is used for.

Yup...forget your UPS ID, and we have to be escorted into the building by a supervisor...lol. IVE has a point...ID should be required for voting. Some convenience stores near me...to buy beer or cigarettes if you're not obviously over 40....they want not only your license but a credit/debit card to match the name on the license.

The grocery store where I work actually requires photo ID when paying with food stamp (EBT) card.

Let's see many state now want or do give illegals drivers licenses with little to no real information needed .
Then they use these ids to board planes & trains , open bank accounts and vote .
Are you aware of the NH primary voting rules ?
All one has to do is show up and claim that they intend to move to NH to vote . That's why so many buses can be seen arriving from neighboring states . Making for a tainted outcome .

For the military people. they could verify It was delivered to the correct person and matbe the CO. could stampit,when they turned it in. or something like that.

The real problem is republicans cry foul whenever they lose. Just face it, you lost the last two and will lose the next. It may be a hard pill for you to swallow, but it goes down much smoother if you wash it down with some rum and coke.

Nobody asks an absentee voter to prove anything. It would be a stupid proposition to force an absentee voter to show up with his/her ID and submit their absentee ballot.

Absentee voters dont have to show any proof to vote. NO ID, or proof that they are even ALIVE.

I dont hear you calling for the identification of absentee voters?

There is a larger percentage of people voting absentee without ID's than there are people standing in lines.

What is it, about the registration process that you dont understand? You must prove WHO you are, WHERE you live and then you are assigned a polling place.

A stranger cannot walk into a polling place and vote, unless he/she is on the VOTER ROLLS. You cant get onto the VOTER ROLLS unless you passed the REGISTRATION process.

Why the need to re identify yourself at the polls if you are already on the voter rolls?

Lets play devils advocate for a second. Lets say YOU were on the voter rolls after you registered. Lets say you couldnt make it to the polls to vote on that day because you were ill, but wanted your vote to be counted. You ask ME to go vote for you. (we are also assuming you could not absentee vote) I show up to the polls, give your name, then find you on the voter rolls, and tell me to go ahead and vote.

I vote for mitt romney, as you would. Did i affect the election negatively? Did I ADD a vote that shouldnt have been counted?

Or, is it still YOUR vote that was already accounted for?

Now, the both of us would be guilty of voter fraud of course, but the vote itself would not have made a difference in the outcome.

This has happened at voter polls.

But moreover, with absentee ballots, people like moreluck should be FORCED to go to the registrars office and show her valid California ID to pick up her absentee ballot, instead of having it mailed to her.

There is a larger chance of voter fraud through absentee balloting than there ever was standing in line at a voting station.

Just ask the republicans, you know the ones, the ones who have been caught committing voter fraud.

Their are many places in this country,you need a valid ID for.

I really do not have a probem showing my ID to vote. and my wife is the one that checks them,at the poll.
