Out of the game for a while. Any recommendations for a kids set up, looking to do some panfishing on a small pond. Preferably no live bait, so lure recommendations too, not looking for trophy fish, more quantity.

with a cane pole there’s no reel to worry about keeping untangled

it’s what I learned in and all my kids did the same

I prefer crickets or later in the year what I really prefer is kids catch grasshoppers then fish with them.

Are you allowed to use artificial light to attract fish? That will get you a nice ticket here in Mn.

You can use lights. You can also "bait" the fish but I don't. Seen a few cans of alpo tied to a string and thrown in the water.

I caught the piss out of em. They nailed the spinnerbait. Had one smash a tube too. You can tell they are post spawn. Biggest one I caught was all beat to hell. I only fished about a 100 yard swath. I’ll be after em again tomorrow.

Guy I work with has about 2 miles of riverfront property he told me go whenever, bring whoever, do whatever, just don’t burn it out and pick up your trash. I got the itch brother. I bought me a new flippin stick and reel today. I’m thinking about joining the bass club again

You gotta try dry flies or poppers for smallmouth. The water explodes when they hit them.
