Young guys just see the money, part time doesn't bother to vote so maybe it has no trouble passing. We keep having inflation and if health care costs shoot up these pensions might have funding problems.
Shoulda stayed went to Teamcare then. You guys stayed on the old plan, but you don’t want repurcussions?

If that’s true not much you can do this time except vote out those you feel stabbed you in the back?

So my only beef is with giving more to certain pension plans, less to others. Raw deal.

Bitch all you want. The Western said they do not need it. Do not blame the TA. Give it to those that need it, not to those that don't.

SOB and the National Negotiating Committee did what the Pension Funds said they needed, or didn't need. Like I said, blame the Funds, not SOB.

You're voting no because the Funds told SOB they do not need an increase, and he did what they asked for. You're brilliant.

He was certainly upset that we might get our insurance covered and he might not, if we went on strike. Sean spent a lot of time on the West Coast during these negotiations having rallies and schmoozing some of the local leaders. Certainly they must feel they’re getting something.

Yea, $1500/mo pension increase over the 5 year contract. Yet @Wally wants to bitch and say they got no increase.

OK. Now your finally starting to blame the correct people. This has nothing to do with the TA. If you feel that $1500/mo pension increase over the next 5 years sucks, than replace the board of the Western Pension Fund. But, damn, $1500/ mo over the next 5 years? They did their job. Once you get an accounting degree, a labor degree, and decide that the actuaries of the Western were wrong, shut up.

Be outraged all you want. The contributions were frozen, but the pension will still increase. Again, you are looking for any reason, even the slightest, to strike.

I got news for you. You will be on your own. I will not walk the line next to you.
They aren’t exactly “frozen”… we have to see if the healthcare will be stable or going up….if it’s stable then there will be money going into pension. Supposedly .50 of the dollar that we usually get for H&W went into raises. To put this all into perspective…every company could go bankrupt in the WCPF and there is enough money in there to cover every participant and their obligations until everyone died. This was told to us during the pension meeting from WCT trust fund managers themselves. Obviously we don’t want that but it just puts out there the depth of the plan.

Yep…met him and Fred twice. It’s funny, Fred always looked taller in the pics and videos than he really was when I talked with him in person….fairly quiet guy but very nice.

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.
You never stop do you. And you have a vote on this contract that could affect us all?

God help us.
He’s got mouths to feed.

There is a hack that allows you multiple votes...allegedly, ...just saying...
That’s not a hack that’s a feature. If before the 22nd you change your mind, just scan the code again and vote, whatever you last voted, is what stands, some conspiracy you’ve got there.

It is indeed frozen. You would think it would at least keep up with inflation?
Stop with the frozen already.

This is frozen:

When a company wants to discontinue offering a pension benefit to its employees, it may choose to freeze its pension instead of terminating it. When a company freezes its pension, new employees will not be allowed to enroll in the plan, and benefits provided to current participants may no longer grow.

Not because your contributions from the company STAYED THE SAME!

pension modifications are mostly determined by the teamsters......all that is woe is not per ups........there is plenty to correct internally by the union .....remember organize organize organize and get a broader base...its a win win win .
