Written by a socialist with an over inflated sense of importance. That he would refer to the wealthy as oligarchs says all you need to know.the revolution thing is from richard wolff. chris hedges agrees:
“The New Deal, as Franklin Delano Roosevelt said, saved capitalism. It was put in place because socialists were a strong and serious threat. The oligarchs understood that with the breakdown of capitalism—something I expect we will again witness in our lifetimes—there was a possibility of a socialist revolution. They did not want to lose their wealth and power. Roosevelt, writing to a friend in 1930, said there was “no question in my mind that it is time for the country to become fairly radical for at least one generation. History shows that where this occurs occasionally, nations are saved from revolution.”95 In other words, Roosevelt went to his fellow oligarchs and said, “Hand over some of your money or you will lose all your money in a revolution.” And they complied. That is how the government created fifteen million jobs, Social Security, unemployment benefits, and public works projects. The capitalists did not do this because the suffering of the masses moved them to pity. They did this because they were scared.”

So?they had sit down strikes during hte great depression. thats one step away from an anti capitalist worker takeover of the business. GM had a sit down strike.
are they not oligarchs?Written by a socialist with an over inflated sense of importance. That he would refer to the wealthy as oligarchs says all you need to know.
thats borderline revolution
It's the language of socialists trying to negatively label the wealthy.are they not oligarchs?
i listened to noam chomsky and he said FDR admin was sympathetic and the labor movement was militant
No, it's people scrambling to protect their income during a terrible depression. Think those guys were seeking to run their companies democratically as you're always touting?thats borderline revolution
Yes it was a much more popular idea back then, than it is nowNo, it's people scrambling to protect their income during a terrible depression. Think those guys were seeking to run their companies democratically as you're always touting?
Is it?It's the language of socialists trying to negatively label the wealthy.
Show me where unions were trying to run everything in their companies? Have votes on everything?Yes it was a much more popular idea back then, than it is now
IMO your communist/socialist/liberal point of view is pretty extreme.I do not identify with any Political Party, I am an independent American. IMO Yours is a pretty extreme viewpoint of our system of taxation.
Only to contradict you viewpoint in equality by stating the opposite.
email richard wolff, michael hudson, harriet fraad, michael albert; they probably know some good books on itShow me where unions were trying to run everything in their companies? Have votes on everything?
It was never a mainstream idea.email richard wolff, michael hudson, harriet fraad, michael albert; they probably know some good books on it
obviously its not a mainstream idea anymore because most people never heard of it until i mention it. when they think of socialism, they just think of govt running everything. the idea was likely mostly destroyed after ww1 when american culture changed to what it is now.
So you support corrupt politicians and corruption corporations. I get it. Never attempted to force any view just cam up with a fake example that I thought might instigate discussion.IMO your communist/socialist/liberal point of view is pretty extreme.
You may not identify with any political party.....but given your communist/socialistic/liberal viewpoints......you would vote Democrat. Have to.
It is simply cause and effect. Example: Electric cars will save the planet.......while stripping it bare with mineral extraction.
Think hard on this one......our country was founded on principals to fight the very tyranny you suggest. And yes it is. Now, liberals will say-"It's just social justice, fair, equality, equity...." Therefore justifying whatever it takes to implement. This is where all the problems begin. Forcing people to your point of view. Forcing. You don't like that term.....you don't like the dirty details.
So, the Democrats have figured this out......just cancel. Since they control most mainstream media, this is easy. This tactic can be found here on BC also.
