THE TRUMP 2024 THREAD

I still don’t understand why you believe he’s got no qualifications. That’s what’s odd.
Well, he said himself, the most people he had ever supervised was 100. The non-profit budgets that went broke under his stewardship were in the $10 million range. He has never supervised a single audit but claims he’ll be the guy who makes sure the Pentagon can pass one.

via the WSJ for cryin out loud:

"It’s still puzzling that President-elect Trump chose Mr. Hegseth for such a senior post. Mr. Trump seems to want someone to take on the “woke” policies of the military under President Biden, and they are problems. But retired four-star Army Gen. Jack Keane says this can be quickly addressed. Give the order, and the brass will follow and so on down the chain of command.

There are larger and more urgent issues at the Pentagon, and the 44-year-old Mr. Hegseth lacks the experience typically required. He has never run an organization of any size, never mind a bureaucracy with as many snares as the Pentagon."

The Pentagon doesn't pass audits now. So you're for the system where Pentagon generals give fat contracts to defense contractors then get hired when they retire by said contractors and paid big salaries. All with the blessing of Defense Secretaries who bring in campaign contributions to their administrations from those contractors. We're over our heads in debt and you want to keep the gravy train going. Don't tell me you're worried about national defense because you back the administration that lets military men run around in skirts.

The U.S. and Qatar announced Wednesday that Hamas and Israel have reached a deal for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip and the release of Israeli hostages.
In a statement, President Joe Biden said “it is long past time for the fighting to end and the work of building peace and security to begin” and celebrated that Americans kept hostage in Gaza “are being reunited with their families.”
The announcement came soon after Israel put out a statement saying that there were still details to be worked out.

Was Lloyd Austin a better pick?

January 11, 2021

“In advance of his Jan. 19 nomination hearing, retired Army Gen. Lloyd Austin, whom President-elect Biden has picked to lead the Defense Department, has disclosed the extent of his financial relationships with defense contractors Raytheon Technologies and Booz Allen Hamilton, as well as other companies he has worked for since leaving the military.

Austin is a member of Raytheon's board of directors. If confirmed as defense secretary, he expects a cash payout between $750,000 and $1.7 million when he divests his shares in the company and associated entities, according to financial disclosure documents first reported by Bloomberg.”

Why do you think Trump said if they don't release the hostages before he takes office there would be hell to pay? They fear him. They saw the Soleimani assassination. They know he told the Taliban leader he knew where his family lived and he would kill them if one American was harmed for the rest of the time we were in Afghanistan. They knew U.S. Marines with all their capabilities would be in Gaza if they didn't release.our hostages.

He is a clown who is easily manipulated. Anyway, my guess is Hamas agreed to a deal because they've already been annihilated and Nettydread has agreed to a deal because there isn't anything left for annihilating.

donald always makes tough demands that electrify his supporters, then adds drama to raise expectations. But time and again, after his target has failed to capitulate, he has no response.
