We do high tech, high end manufacturing here. We make cars. We even have an $80 billion textile industry, mainly in the South.
Comparative advantage is an underappreciated reality. Some of you need to learn a thing or two about it. We’re all better off when we do the work and produce the goods and services that were best at producing. Producing low value things instead of services and high end manufacturing is what we’re good at. It serves the most people and is the most profitable for the society.

Maybe if Trump cared about peace he wouldn’t have blackmailed Zelenskyy when he was in office the first time. He held up vital defense weapons while they were being attacked by Russia.

Of course the UAW likes it, why wouldn’t they? More cars will be built here! Honda already said the new Civic will be built here not Mexico. We will definitely see some price hikes on some goods, short term. The increase in our energy production will offset this with lower prices on gas, and lower prices on our goods here.

Ehhh. I'm just not a fan of trade barriers. One of the things that attracted me to Ron Paul's message.
Tariffs are an incredibly dangerous tool used to try to force an economy into reshaping. You just can't totally predict all the outcomes. One of the outcomes we can foresee is retaliatory tariffs. Who knows how long this will go on for. Meanwhile a bunch of families may be really hurt.

Think about the disparity in consumer bases between Mexico, Canada and the US. The US has 10x the market Canada has, and Mexico is basically a 3rd world country. Where do you think the most cars are sold? Anything for that matter. Company’s will relocate here, especially if taxes are lowered. Better workers, safer country. We have clout we haven’t even used yet, Trump knows and understands this. He’s all about American business and securing, imho
