Thank you Mr Buffet for saying the truth “Tariffs are an act of war” and our country has had way more tariffs (war) on us than we have put on others. As long as you let other countries have a one sided war (tariffs) with you they will never quit. The only way to fight a war (tariffs) and win is to fight back. So with that great explanation from Mr. Buffet that all the Democrats can understand and agree with they will now be for Trump’s tariffs. It would be like Ukraine not fighting back when Russia hits them and we know no Democrat would be for that.

Is the stated goal by the Trump administration to get to zero on tariffs between, say, the U.S. and Canada?
Or is their stated goal something different? Like to onshore all of our auto industry, for example?

If tariffs are “an act of war” as Mr. Buffet so greatly described then there should be no tariffs on or from any country. If doing that makes businesses run to our Country then that seems like a win win situation to me.

It hasn't, and it won't. The net effect won't be significantly more onshoring in a reasonable time because of a tariff war.
But we'll pay higher prices and be worse off, though. Winning!
The White House is using tariffs to restore manufacturing. Data suggests it will take time.
Manufacturing jobs and infrastructure have shrunk since the 1970s, and it would take years to raise them back up.

Tariffs are an act of war. Your concern is that we will pay a higher price for things. So you are against us using tariffs on people that are using them on us. Got it. So with that thinking you must be against Ukraine fighting Russia because them not just surrendering has kept the war going and we have sent hundreds of billions of our dollars to help them which has caused inflation which has made us pay more for everything. Now we agree on something.
