I think that generally the highest rates are around 30-32 with more commonly 25 or so for 20-year people. I read the FedEx side from time to time. I am sure someone else can and will correct my ignorance.
You are just about spot on. We have market levels here at Express. So in areas where they can pay lower and be " competitive " with local jobs they will. And vice versa in areas that have more higher paying jobs to compete for workers. The problem is that 16 year vet may not be topped out yet, and with expensive health insurance and lack of a good pension, UPS is looking more attractive to Express veterans.
