Uncle Larry Fink says “Work Longer” … You’ll be Happy

If I had invested the money that was taken out of my paycheck weekly for the last 30 years for Social Security. I would’ve been a millionaire many times over. What’s your point? Social Security is not a great investment for me personally, but perhaps it is socially but generally speaking people like you pretend they don’t like those things until you need them.
Would you? Then how come you aren't? Surely you put at least 6.2% of your pay into investments over the years?

If you don't know it all by now then you need to start cracking some books. Funny thing about money. People can claim to be Christians but when they start squabbling about money all that other goes out the door.
Keep spinning that silly yarn. Read about the parable of the talents in the Bible and tell me how Social Security is a great investment.

your example partially highlights why we object to the socialist concept. If we had invested that money for thirty years we would be millionaires and we would have that money when we needed it.

being forced to pay into it we clearly would want to collect back what we paid for it when we're able to. that does not make us pretenders or hypocritical.

Yes, I would’ve been as I already am, and it would’ve been more. How much did you invest?
I contributed to my 401k and cashed out when I quit in 2013. Never had your income to invest. So, you're a millionaire many times over but you resent a poor guy like me getting $1671 a month SS. Strange.

Maybe it doesn’t you but it definitely does him because he wants to penalize people who make more than him. His reasoning is it won’t hurt them. He planned poorly his whole life.
Social Security was set up because of people like him. The government understood most people would plan poorly.

I don’t resent it. I resent the fact that you think others should pay more so that you can get what you think you deserve. I also resent the fact that you are worried about how others spend their money and what they can or can’t afford.

Look some people are dealt a good hand in life and other people are lazy.
I bust my ass and I work lots of overtime so I can have the things that I want and secure future for me and my wife.
And you justify those not doing as well as you as they're all lazy. As if everyone has the same opportunities and good jobs are there for.the taking. It's exactly why you take a job like UPS. It's hard work but it pays a lot better with good benefits. Hats off to you. Now someone humps all day for FedEx Ground for $18hr and no benefits. Is he lazy? Best job he could come up with where he lives. Yeah, let's turn our lives upside down to move to a big city with all that mess in hopes of getting a decent job instead of living where he wants to. The better money doesn't mean as much to him as being near friends and family. But he's counting on getting that SS payment someday along with his wife so that they can get by when he's too old to work. That makes him a horrible person?

No, not lazy, But definitely settling and understanding that he’s doing so. Thats the beauty of our country. Yes, you can pick up and move for a better opportunity, every single one of our fore- fathers did it. I guess you’re too good for it? But now you’re going to leave our country because you can’t afford to live here when you get your Social Security.? Dont you realize you’ve lived backwards your whole life?

Read it again. I didn't say everyone was lazy.
Some people are not dealt a good hand right, I get that.

Maybe you should have worked another year or two maybe you should get a part-time job?

And you're quick to call people failures, frauds, and lazy. When have I asked you to pay more? When have I questioned how others spend their money? I'm just pointing out those who benefit more from our system should be willing to pay more to sustain the system. They still have plenty and what people get on the poor side isn't a lot. But lets let the system remain the same. No more taxes above $400k. No adjustments of any sort. We'll all take a 22% haircut in about 10 years. You'll do fine because you already are doing well. And I'll do fine because I'll move overseas. Someone with a $1500 payment will be down to about $1170 or so and might struggle a bit. Good, he was lazy and shift less and deserves to starve. Everyone making little does. Are you happy now?

I left my hometown to find work. Got on with FedEx. Was it living backwards to go to work every day and do right by them? Guess a lot of people are living backwards.
