UPS Plans to Cut Non-Driver Jobs to Mitigate Union Labor Costs

It’s an unfortunate problem that has Arisen as more and more corporations take everything over and Mom And pop Shops disappear. The days of people starting at the bottom as a youngster and working their way up in the company are pretty much gone.
The biggest problem is, nobody wants to get there hands dirty

I have many business customers on my route tell me, they never paid the kind of payroll they are paying now and getting a lot less production

PAL system to eliminate misloads
this is NOT what PAS was created for, it's also NOT automation
RFID to eliminate misloads from the PAL system
RFID DOES reduce misloads over basic PAS; this also, is NOT automation
ORION etc. Yeah technology is great. But no substitute for an experienced and trained human.
yet again, this is NOT an example of automation, but it absolutely does increase SPORH +2-3 even adjusting for all downsides that's why UPS hasn't dropped it

please, just stick to parking the cars dude, you really have no clue what you're talking about

Once again... your job is FAR more likely to be automated or outsourced than drivers or PT positions
UPS is too complex to outsource out IE decision making (we already tried lol)

if UPS didn't have a Teamsters contract, yes it could be done
if UPS had 100% automated hubs, yes it could be done

we don't, so we can't; hope that helps, drive safe

This is how things like Orion, etc., continue to happen. Complete disconnect from the people who plan and create things from their offices and what actually happens.
so you know what ORION's real issue is? it requires excellent map and parameter maintenance by your PDS

it can't work properly without it, and IE has zero control over what your PDS does or doesn't do

IE can and will be outsourced soon. Maybe Amazon is hiring
