As a retired package driver I am dismayed by the crap talk about some sort of justification
for this POS coward. He shot drivers not management. I have worked this building and 2 other in local 278. I have in the past turned in a preloader for theft. Saw him putting pkg's into his car. Did not hesitate and told people I was the one who turned him in. Take some accountability for your actions. If you see or hear something say something. This coward was a crap driver who was filing 9.5 because he was 1.5-2 hrs over. That = crap driver. No allowance is that off. A real production nightmare who needed help, couldn't handle bulk, late air, etc. A shop stewards nightmare. Don't mention his name as he does not deserve any recognition. Please remember ALL our fellow brothers and sisters in our thoughts and prayers.

Every driver has a "best demonstrated performance" level. Not everyone is efficient after years on this job. There's different health issues (arthritis, etc) that slows folks down in time.
Maybe you're mad about some of the responses on here but I will say that your overview is in my opinion somewhat short sided.

Orion screwed up many routes by taking away mileage that was built into the time allowance. I was a scratch driver before Orion. The day Orion was implemented, I ran almost 2 hours over while working the same pace as before. Now I'm 1.5-2 hours over every day on the same route, even with a supervisor riding with me. Please don't comment here if all you're going to do is spew your ignorance.

The PCM here in Rhode Island also didn't mention the shooting. I've been saying for years how foolish it is that we have a metal detector going OUT of the building (so you don't steal) and none when you are coming IN. Shows a real dedication to safety. Was that the same metal detector situation in San Francisco?

My building had a metal detector as you left. They did check people as they entered a few times when a manager got threatened but normally didn't.
