Just to be clear that I'm not a Trumper in any shape or form. I am critical of everyone especially when they throw phrases around like "this Brave New World" and "We are all in this together". What do you think Ivanka Trump is talking about in the following video? She is referencing Aldous Huxley's book "A Brave New World" telling you with a smile, welcome to the New World Order. Maybe you can point out to me where it said it's legal. On a plain language reading it looks like it makes it a criminal offense. And this applies to anyone having any dealings with the government except in court pleadings. What really protects members of Congress and the President from liability for things they say is qualified immunity and executive privilege. Most people, when testifying under oath before congress, simply decline to answer, claim they aren't sure, or offer to answer questions at a later time when they are not under oath.

Yeah I didn’t see anything about legal lying either. But members of Congress or Senate can virtually say anything while on the floor of their respective chambers, including lying about anything or anyone and be immune from any liability. But only in the chamber. Weird but true.

Read subsection (b). If you were to press charges in a judicial proceeding under subsection (a), subsection (b) overrides subsection (a) by a legal slight of hand. That means if the person or entity you are pressing charges against under subsection (a) in judicial proceeding knows about subsection (b) they can say, “your honor, under subsection (b) under public law 104-292, subsection (a) which details the consequences of such deceit does not apply to them.

I believe that’s so the lawyer is not held accountable for the lies his client tells or submits as facts. In a judicial proceeding only. Congress is not a judicial proceeding it’s a legislative body.
