What are you watching?

Funny because it earned 10 Academy Award nominations, won 3 Golden Globe Awards and was named one of the top ten films of 2024. I’m thinking the same people raving about Emilia Perez are the same people writing the rave reviews on The Brutalist.
You can usually ignore most of what the professional critics say. They tend to dislike movies everyone else likes and pretend to love the artsy type stuff.

This was such a good epic drama. It’s actually an American show. If you’re into history at all you might like it. It has English, Japanese and Korean languages in it.

Am I the only person on this site open-minded enough to be enjoying Korean shows, movies and music? Their shows are so superior to American shows right now. About three years ago I was so fed up with American shows (the PC content, gratuitous sex, LGBTQ jammed down our throats, etc,). I started exploring shows from other countries on Netflix. I have watched some really good shows from all over the world and settled on watching Korean shows because they are so good and there are so many. They are extremely popular worldwide. The shows are much more creative and more intelligent. Romance is mostly slow-burn with not a lot of jumping in the bed immediately. It’s all about love. The music fits into the scenes so perfectly. I read a comment someone wrote once that said Korean shows have enough similarities to our culture to make them relatable and enough cultural differences to make it interesting. The only downside is watching them with subtitles. Anybody???

I have only seen a few Korean shows and they seemed to be mostly cheap imitations of Japanese. I never saw any of the soap operas though.
Eh. The Japanese and Koreans imitate each other back and forth with shows. Lol. I’ve watched Japanese and Chinese dramas also. I’m actually watching a Chinese drama right now. I prefer Korean though. To me they are superior and I like their culture better, as well as their language.

The Chinese made some good shows but the problem is they are too deeply into Chinese culture and history. OK if you like that but for me a little of that goes a long way.

Action, mystery, scifi, some westerns, some procedural crime dramas, some historical. A bit of almost everything. Not so much for rom coms though. I hate all reality shows. Most sports but not really soccer.

This is another great action show. The lead actor is an amazing actor. He does almost all of his own action scenes. Hugely popular around the world.
