It does actually. Once again the Teamsters failed to address the issue of "work as directed" being a catch-all type directive. As long as it's not unsafe, you WILL do whatever they want or face immediate termination. The union can't help you with this.

If by this statement you are refering to the auto industry, and not the city of Detroit then you need to find a crack dealer because the one you have now is sellling you tainted product and making you hallucinate. Like many who see big business as incapable of failing because of the hubris, greed ,and vanity of it's upper management. Blame the working man and woman in the Union for the company failing. The Union is just our "agent" (to use a sports term) who negotiates our wages and make sure we are not mistreated. No company is going to pay more than it can afford for it's workers and if they do then frankly they have zero business sense and should not be in the position they are

Work as directed isn't just a ups thing....I understand the premises behind it but like everything else here ups pushes it to the thousand degree...absolute control freaks..

People in right to work states don't know what they want...they are suppose to be"independent" of government and unions but are happy making minimum wage and no benefits...oh well. But they seem to flip a lid when others (union members) are making more with benefits...make your mind up. They threw a fit when Obama care was forced on them...All we heard was socialist bs. Then they turn around and cry because the unions get better wage and benis. ..huh, so we all should have the same..isn't that socialism..you can't win.

We fuel off-site. We have the small blue bins by each garbage can and 5 larger containers by our two dumpsters (one for cardboard and the other for trash) for the collection of the recyclables. We also have 3 containers for collecting deposit soda and water containers. Our center buys 15 cases of water each week during the summer and encourages the drivers to put the empties in one of these containers with all proceeds going to UW. I go through the pkg cars when I get off road, collecting any paper and plastic that may have been left behind during the day. It takes us about 3 days to fill up one of the larger recycling containers.

Have you thought about asking your mgt team for permission to set up collection bins by the fuel pumps for deposit soda and water bottles? I am sure that a local charity would be grateful for your donation.

It is more green to re-use rather than recycle.
