It's a vicious cycle
We're likely not losing anything we have already, we're just not going to get something else that we could've potentially gotten. everything comes down to money. I don't mean that in a cynical way, it just simply is possible to assign a monetary cost to every policy, somethings like wages are the money that the wages are. AC is the cost to install it, or get trucks with it installed, the costs to buy parts and have the mechanics do labor to maintain it, and the cost of the fuel to run it (which is very likely the biggest portion by a huge margin). any policy we bargain for is going to be resisted proportionally to how much it's estimated to cost and with respect to the economic margin available for the company to bargain away. AC in the trucks will reduce that margin, probably by a lot. and probably with very little benefit as far as mitigating the extreme heat conditions that our drivers face in the hottest parts of the country during the summer.
