When I started at UPS ~8 years ago, PAL labels were already being used.
At that time, though, a typical shift for PC loaders was ~3.5 hours (supervisors often tried to send us home early) and anything more than 700 pieces was a "heavy" day.
Now, I average more than 900 pieces, have to deal overloaded cars and mostly illegible inkjet labels.
A couple of years ago, they tried to forbid us part-timers from bringing in coolers to keep our beverages cold. So, I played the game and made sure that I announced my trips to the water fountain every 15 minutes or so.
That maybe lasted for a couple of days and they haven't commented about coolers since.
