Had 5 of em..wished I'd kept at least one..pretty high dollar now

You just blew my mind...

My best friend lost his brain about VW’s...

He had a KG, two beetles, and a camper.

Of course, being a hippie with no income, he no longer has any of those collectible vehicles.

He’s driving a Dodge Astro now, don’t hate, it’s 40x more reliable than any pre-1980 VW.

I never had any trouble with them. Had a 71, 3 speed stick automatic superbeetle- only one gave me trouble.. $91 to fix trans seal-- had the last one when got married..kept it 3 or 4 years.. till mini van time..the harder you ran em the better they liked it.. froze to death in the winter and burned up in the summer

Yes he did ... it was proposed and passed as a military preparation initiative but it really helped the USA to develop a strong logistical background.

He got the idea from Hitler's autobahn.
My understanding is the autobahn gave birth to the VW Bug...what good was a great road if no one had a car to drive on it ?.. poor peoples car from the start

The venerable VW Bug.

Grew up driving a 1973 Super Beatle.

Orange.

(I think my dad planned it that way.... it was like driving a traffic cone)

My brothers and I beat the crap out of that thing.

I installed a rock'n Craig 8-track player and a pair of "Mind Blower" speakers.

Oh, the days....

They’re easy to work on, the problem is you have work on them all the time...
It seemed like every other weekend.
I had that spiral bound book that I wore out ... I think it was held together by the oil I got on it.
