Isn't that the old joke ?

The company has been planning on peak season.... since last year ?

Yep.

But, as you know, this is new language. UPS never likes changes. They fight it tooth and nail. The extension will be over after peak and then UPS will have to figure it out. They will have plenty of extra drivers right off the bat and will not need to force a 6th punch. Then, as volume starts coming back up in March, start hiring more drivers.

I don’t know of any extension. Besides one in October that’s over. Perhaps one exist but I haven’t seen it. Just heard people complaining here in a few places..

And I can respect that. You have a very good reason.

These other people's reasons are because they want to make the company pay. They want to "hurt" the Company with "paybacks."

It is more about making the Company pay, getting back at the man, than it is about the actual 6th punch.
Nobody has said that but you.
Imagine doing business with you. Hire a plumber
Plumber “Ok sir that will be 600$ for the repair work about half a day and parts”
Truckerclock “ok agreed go ahead and fix it”
Plumber “ok sir work is completed as agreed can you please pay me now”
Trucker clock “I can give you 200$”
Plumber “what that’s not fair we had an agreement”
Trucker clock “well I can’t afford it you want to punish me? Make my kids starve? My wife can’t get a new coat for Christmas? Why don’t you wait till January and if I need you again I’ll follow our agreement that time. No one is right or wrong here it’s just our opinion”
Plumber “I am putting a mechanics lien in your house maroon”

But somehow with ups you have Stockholm syndrome and think they are entitled to not follow contractual agreements.

The funniest lie right now, is that every single seasonal has been told their guaranteed a position by management. Some of these people read the reports about 170 K and have quit their job to Try this. I don’t have the heart to tell them December 26. They won’t be working here anymore. 🤷‍♂️ such a slimy way to do business.

Unless they are in the Central

I'm sure it's going to be quite a few job openings at the beginning of the year

And maybe that's what SOB should have told them. He should have said to pay double time to volunteers before they force anyone. I have agreed with you before. But he didn't. Blame him, not me.
We are blaming you becuase you are supporting him. We are saying no forced we should get double time to entice volunteers and you told us that will cost 6 million jobs and we are schadenfreuding the company. The issue isn’t forced or ups goes out of business. The issue is let them violate the contract or get the work done as they agreed without forcing. You know they would have plenty of volunteers so I don’t know why you are perpetuating that false dichotomy other than cowardice or cash.

6 million sounds a bit high to me 🙃

Neither one affects me. I can retire anytime I want and will be just fine. Work another year or two and I can afford that vacation house.

I support my president and his decisions. I voted for him to make decisions that he needs to make. I never heard any bitching when Hoffa extended entire contracts, for months at a time. UPS is asking for a 30 day extension on the 60 day extension they already had. It's not the end of the world.

OK.

Never said that.

The issue is let them violate the contract or get the work done as they agreed without forcing.

The 6th punch was not in force after ratification. We worked for 60 days during the new contract without the no 6th punch clause. UPS asked for an extension. I agreed with SOB. If he disagreed and didn't give it to them, that is my president's decision and I could live with that. He made the choice without consulting me, or any of the other 330,000 Teamsters.

But that is why we elected him. To make the tough choices, right or wrong in our eyes.
