One local? You know better.
At the time that was my deep intel reporting. Now that everyone else knows about it is there more than one local affected?
Same question if it’s 5 locals. Do you think if the entire rest of the country dosnt need 6 punches would 5 locals also not doing 6 punches cost thousands of jobs? Based on what?

I'm in a local that historically can't force a 6th day. Last year, 6th day was paid at double time(first time ever). This year, 6th day volunteers is time and a half. If locals with historic non forced 6th days can figure out staffing, then all the other locals should be able to figure out Saturday staffing. Everyone has their price, and double time is mine. I'm not volunteering at time and a half.

Yes they could have, but they didn’t. So let’s make them pay, right?

Sounds so familiar to those who wanted to strike just to teach UPS a lesson, no matter what the contract was.

I know I'm a little late here, but I just feel the need to point out that I wanted a strike because I was tired of working 6 days a week and being shipped off to other centers on my "days off."

This job put me in the hospital early in my career and one of my managers called me into the building the next morning just to give a 30min lecture that essentially boiled down to "I'm not sure if you're stupid or lazy but I suspect it's a bit of them both."

THAT'S the culture that we're dealing with so no, sir, you can't play the guilt card with me. I respect that other jobs may be in jeopardy, but I'm working to get the kinks out of mine first and foremost.

If UPS was smart, they would use AI to analyze a seasoned drivers method of delivering a route and build off that.

If ORION would use real life metrics it probably wouldn’t be so bad.
This ponder square pagan Toronto UPS methodology

The author of the quote in question was alluding to the "square pegs in round holes" idiomatic expression. "Management" with their vacuous approach to things would not understand practicable real life approaches to daily route delivery.

It is not a SMART move.... thats the kind of betrayal that gets men hurt in the real world.

There is nothing you can say to convince anyone that your position is not one of dishonor and of cowardice.

I name you a spinless dishonorable coward.

Im being a little over the top here. I can relax a little.

I don't want to kiss your ass too much but that is truly impressive

Not really. Everyone has a sob story but imagine being in progression making 23$ an hour. You see the contract no forced 6 day and decide to make your big play for custody on Sunday/Monday or Saturday/Sunday. Now truckercuck tells you have to find a babysitter for “only 5 weeks” at around 23$ an hour. And now your ex can tell the judge hey he does even stay with lil Johnny he goes to work and leaves him with a baby sitter!
>but your honor we had to make sure our customers didn’t get mad that waited till the last minute to send packages at the cheapest slowest service level.
I don’t think there is any flip out too big the whole claim to fame for unions was
“Thank a union you have a 5 day 40hr workweek”
Now we have scabs like trucker clock and the union itself saying 5 days 60 hours is not enough we need 6 days or the poor corporations won’t be able to survive and no we can’t expect a premium to help them.

Pretty simple fix for those centers that are trying to force a 6th punch. Solidarity. Nobody works a 6th punch not even volunteering until UPS gets it that they can't force. Lean on the language and look around the country. The war is over you just have to make one last stand.
