So what happens if a driver volunteers for 6th punch during peak to make gangsta money for their family homies during the joyous holidays?

Will he/she be blackballed forever?

In feedahs they are fighting over extra work.
$$$$$$$$$$
No one is mad over volunteers. It's the way it should be. People are mad that it should be only volunteers via the passed contract yet 1 local wants to be a rebel.

And then they are blaming the ibt and the ibt is blaming them and no one will admit to anything and also that 1 local that is also half the country will cost ups millions and the ibt thousands of union jobs.

The fact that it's a single local should be telling enough on who is probably not being the most truthful.

Yep.

I don't think so. They had 60 days to figure it out, but dragged their feet and didn't even try in most areas. They only asked for an extension because they know they screwed up, they didn't hire enough package drivers and now peak is here.

Once it's worked out in January, they will have 11 months to keep working at it before peak. They will have to move schedules and hire more drivers. If they don't have it figured out by then, maybe it is time to shut this Company down.
This company is always short staffed. That is the plan. That has always been the plan.

Ok I'm taking you off ignore just to put you back in your pathetic place you fn maroon.
What? I see a handful of posters bitching about this.

I believe everything I read online also.

How many of the 330,000 Teamsters have you talked to.

You clearly only check the brown cafe. Check other outlets and talk to stewards across the nation. Some of us actually have friends unlike you.
You sure about that?

Did you read that online also?
Where the sob memorandum then about extensions? No one other than you have seen it. At least there have been no others complaining in other locals about this issue other than 639. It's called reasonable deduction you :censored2:. Now go back to being an irrelevant idiot who gave his balls away a long time ago it seems.

In fact show anyone else they agrees with this? And show me any other local doing it? If you can't you should honestly go away.

It was on the list of strike issues dude. You don’t understand that people that have been forced 6 days since COVID started are tired of it? You honestly don’t get that?

And here I thought you were smarter than that.

We've had 6th punch for sometime now. Can it really be forced? No.

We now have a contract that says no forced 6th punch. The Union gave UPS 60 days to work it out. It allowed the 6th punch during this time even though the contract said no 6th punch.

So you think someone is going to make a play for custody exactly 60 days after the contract ratification? You live in a dream world.

UPS asked for an extension, which is not uncommon in running a multi-billion dollar business. UPS asked the Teamsters for entire contract extensions in the past. And yes, Hoffa gave it to them.

The problem here is that the 60 day agreement ended just as peak was starting. This would not be an issue if it was January.

You're making a helluva good living, full medical and full pension, at UPS. But you go ahead and make the Company pay. Tell them no forced 6th punch and let them fall on their face this peak. The Company that affords you a very nice living to raise your family and secure your retirement. Don't give them an extension for peak. Screw them. Make them pay.

Again there are other solutions for servicing the customer apart from forced six punch. If PVDS didn’t exist I could be a little more sympathetic to your argument. What gives you such confidence that they won’t do this next peak and the next etc.. Whatever they do next year assuming they don’t push for no force six punch next peak could have been done in the sixty day period!! I have no interest in seeing this company “pay”. I have a interest in this company showing just a smidge of integrity and following a legal document that they agreed too!

Hire drivers in January and February! lol!! Nope - they cut back on everything you know that! Drivers on Monday and Saturday will just be working 12-14 hour days.

I don’t know I still haven’t heard any official position from SOB, other than no more six days. If there’s some sort of decision that has to go through a process, I’m certain he’s fighting for that to be upheld. I’ve seen nothing or heard nothing, except on here..

We had a driver spread a rumor that our local agreed to it. We then called the BA and shop stewards etc and they all said nope not true no forced six. I’m still waiting for someone to show some paperwork on here about all this mess!

Exactly. I don’t believe there is any paperwork. I believe a couple locals have made a mess and are blaming the international. Otherwise it would be everywhere.

We have M-friend drivers and T-S drivers; the company doesn’t need both sets of drivers for Saturday and Monday ( when we all work Saturday we have no work Monday and same with Saturdays ) at least in my location … they could get by running a few extra routes Saturday and a few extra routes Monday and would get volunteers without having to force… in the event they don’t get enough volunteers let PVD or management do it which may piss off people enough to have them say screw it I’ll work before I let a PVD or management take my $66+ OT per hour

TEAMSTERS: hey ups you can’t force our members to work 6 days per new national agreement
UPS: teamsters we need to run an extended operation 5 weeks per year thanksgiving- Christmas. We will use management to move the packages if we can’t get enough teamsters to do it.

Believe it or not, that would solve a lot of the staffing issues because I for one would refuse to let management take my overtime and to each their own. I’m sure there’s a lot of others who think the same way I do.

I mean let’s face it 90% of management are deadweight anyway and if you are upper level corporate wouldn’t you want to save money by making your salaried employees actually earn their money for five weeks out of the year or pay the member $66 an hour overtime?

Again, nobody is wrong on this issue. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but UPS has to honor the Teamsters contract, and they also have to service their customers at the same time and why not make your management team earn their money, a couple days out of the year instead of going home after four hours and getting paid for eight lol
