The local says that after they told us to call out on sixth days, they received a call from the IBT that they are scared the local is 'instructing the workforce' not to come in and it could be construed as a wildcat. And that they had to correct their statement to us and tell us to come in. All I can say is when I talk to my officials they seem sincere.
I am not saying you didn’t get told that, but I’m saying that sounds like BS from your local.

Hey everyone I read a memo from SOB that we will be forced to work Christmas Eve. Even though it's a Sunday. Suck it up buttercups. It must be true because it's NOT on the internet.
Hey its only 1 day. Come January you won't have to do it again. You're costing thousands of teamsters their jobs if you don't do it!

One of my favorite things to do is to go in a little little bit early and watch the fools and seasonals work off the clock, loading their own vehicles while I drink, coffee, and chuckle and then go to my truck after PCM, close the bulkhead door and leave. they are amazed. 😂 I wonder how many jobs they’re taking doing that?

eats packages

Deranged lunatic
Honestly if they can't get enough people to work a sixth day between the %20 of people that voluntarily signed up and seasonal employees then that just sounds like bad planning.

We're running lower staffing than that on a typical saturday.

But...but if one local doesn't get forced in on Saturdays we're going to lose thousands of teamster jobs!

You really believe only 1 local? You're very gullible.

Just a quick 30 second search.

Members are still being forced to work 6-days a week in local 639.

Yup its a bunch of bull:censored2:. Rumor is, at least in NorCal, that the IBT said there's nothing they can do and we need to go to work.

We're still being forced 6th punch at my building.

Local 71 is forcing 6th punches as well

6th punch and other funny business happening in NorCal.

Here in the DMV it's just "4 more Saturdays and we'll figure it out."

Heard it’s about to start in 391 in Atlantic area as well

So it wasn’t one local screwing up it was a cordinated instead effort by ups to sabatoge the process? Does that change your view that we are duty bound to fix the problem by working for 1.5x?

No coordinated effort to do anything. It was typical UPS not doing what they were supposed to do in a timely fashion. They had 60 days and didn't get it done.

SOB and the National Negotiating Committee negotiated the contract. We voted on it.

Here we are now. If SOB and the EB feels it necessary to extend that 60 day period, so be it. But, yes, I agree that it is the best viable alternative since UPS did not offer to pay volunteers double time.

So it’s not important enough to the company to pay 2x but it’s important enough we have to give up one of the few wins in the contract.
You know one of the signs of an abusive relationship is they expect you to care more about them than they care about themselves?

Taking the cheapest way out. That's what multi-billion dollar companies do. You would do the same if it was your company. Why pay double time if you don't have to.
