You better make sure wages aren't being garnished, simple math tells me this story has some holes in it...

I guess you could be somewhere with crazy state taxes but on the federal side your taxes can't be more than 33% of the extra amount you earned and you'll get 5-8% of that back when you file.
My story has holes? I’m not being garnished. I live in a top 3 most expensive state in the country. I grossed 2490 and cleared 13 and change. Complete bullsheet. I’ve had weeks where I’ve worked 47 hours and cleared 11. And next week I’ll be even more pissed off as dues come out. This sucks. I want those 12 hours of my life back where I got 20 cents on the dollar for my worthless OT. I paid 6 and change in taxes.

You should claim 9 all year and write checks to the IRS if you truly feel ripped off. Living in the most expensive state has nothing to do with your taxes, your state’s income tax might however, but you’re being taxed at that rate wether you make $1.00 or $1000.00

Look, I'm done. All I can say is what three old timers told me last night: that the 8/70 work week is based on a minimum of 6 punch ins for the week. Who knows? Maybe they're wrong. I'll ask my BA this weekend at the union meeting.

You'll get back anything you overpaid.

My wife's employer got bought out mid year. She normally maxes SS contributions in September or August. She should be clearing about $1000 a month more right now but because she was technically under 2 different employers they never stopped taking it out.

No big deal we will get it back in February or March.

That is also my understanding. Max of 60 in 5 days didn't change. Just working more days.

I'm really not knocking the old timers but it's my experience that they struggle the most with understanding these regulations.

That may very well be the intent of the language but I've never seen it written anywhere.

These are really sharp guys, but they could, I could be wrong. Like I say, I'll ask my BA Saturday. He should know. I would hope. I'd rather have the right answer and admit I was wrong than give someone the wrong info for my pride.
