If you believe that I feel sorry for you. I know he did his best to represent his members, and did a damn good job. But he also took some on the side whether you want to believe it or not.

Directly from the IRB charges. Flynn admitted to taking the gift cards.

The report notes that Flynn’s various explanations for the scheme are not credible. “Flynn essentially claimed that since local funds had been converted into gift cards solely under his control, at that point magically he did not have to account for their use.”

Its where they were cashed that cooked him. They didn`t know for a while. The bank where they were purchased had an incomplete paper trail but later found the evidence.
He only paid $24,000 back with commission owed him.
There are other issues that 710 is on the hook for. The soft drink pension for one. I heard a big # but need confirmation on that from Coli. Who by the way was conviently absent from the meeting.

I believe local 710 owes over $250,000 to the Employee Trust Fund (Pension).

That's not true. It's the fact he ordered more cards than stewards that cooked him. He did it repeatedly. In fact the IBT actually warned him to stop and he continued. The pension fund is missing money from a "loan" too. Many thought he made 500 grand but the IBT also brought it to light that he really made over 800 grand a year from "membership bonuses." Many still praise him but truth be told our local takes in over 9 million a year and he ran it into the red for several years. Pat Flynn has embarrassed himself and local 710. Coli was absent. Who cares?? He is nothing more than a figure head. All decisions will be made for him. One thing we did learn during the second informal UPS meeting is they have no intention to eliminate 710 as many have predicted. 710 could get smaller and there may be other unpopular changes forthcoming. If that happens Coli isn't all to blame. After all if Flynn, Sweeney, Paulie, and Decola are lying thieving slugs 710 wouldn't be in this situation.

According to one of the Int`l members Flynn could've purchased 14,000 + plus gift cards and not been in hot water .....if he gave them to the members and kept records of who received them. It was where they were cashed that contradicted his "recollection" as to where the cards went. Why there wasn't money laundering charges filed tells a lot about the IRB process, Coli, and Hoffa. Resembles Washington when politicians find dirt on each other. They let things go until someone wants the office for themselves or one of their friends. They do just enough to get them out of office and thats it. Most walk with their pension and a slap on the wrist. I'm sure Flynn has a lot of dirt on them which is why he got off easy.

That's just the kind of statement I would expect coming from someone supporting or belonging to the first slate that has appeared. Lying slugs pretty much sums them up. Thankfully 2 more are forming with some credibility.

I'm in 705 and I have a question about what would encompass back pay. I reached full progression under the last contract September '13 at 12.99 so no raise this September. So I understand I'll be getting $.** for every hour since what would be my 5th year anniversary. But knock on wood, if they increase the starting salary from 8.50 to 9.50 would I and everyone else get another dollar too? Or is that a stupid assumption, cause that's the rumor that's been going around since the lapse and I got my hopes up believing it.
