Well according to some posters all we have to do is start showing up at union meetings to get a contract. They must be waiting for us to bring the popcorn . That is the hold up.

Well according to my union steward as I was leaving work tonight 705 has a tentative agreement and there is a meeting Sunday about this at the union hall in Chicago which near the UC (United Center.) He said most people don't go to the meeting since they are at like 10 in the morning and most people at still trying to get that extra wink or trying to cure that hang over. He'll have info on the contract on Monday.

Headline on UPSers website this morning.

UPS/Teamsters Reach Agreement on 705 Contract

5-year contract covers Teamster-UPSers for Local 705

UPS reached tentative agreement with Teamster negotiators for Local 705 on a new, five-year contract. The contract covers Local 705 members in Illinois and is separate from the National Master Agreement. Upon ratification, the new agreement will take effect retroactive to August 1, 2013.

This agreement is good for our people, good for our customers and good for our company. It also allows us to remain competitive in a challenging marketplace.

Here's a flyer with major details being circulated. So does everyone currently employed get the $1.50 increase on top of the progression?
No, the language is a little complicated (I'm assuming that the language isn't changing). I believe there are some flyers (pdf) on the IBT website that kind of explain it, with examples.

Edit: I recommend all PTers with a seniority date after July 31,2009 read this language (Article 22.5 IIRC) in the black contract book and try to understand it. If they can't figure it out, they should get an explanation of it from their steward or business agent.

We are screwed if we vote yes herd some drivers complaining about it!
You can thank the goofy liberial :censored2:s for obama care!

So rather than reading the tentative agreement and making the decision on your own you are relying on others to make that decision for you?

UPS wanted out of the healthcare business and the Union wanted in. A well-run healthcare plan can be a money maker, especially one with as many subscribers as we have. Yes, the benefits are not what you may have been used to with the company plan, but if you are a smart medical consumer you really shouldn't notice that much of a difference.

I have had a Teamster plan since Day One and have absolutely no complaints.

UPS wanted to shed the liability of healthcare from their books to appease the shareholders.
