Shorter days would help tons of drivers like myself that dont live paycheck to paycheck. That's unfortunate but I dont want to be like these guys that look aged and beat down. Walking with a back brace a limp a bad shoulder all beat down.

I mean ive never been in worse shape in my life. This isn't healthy. Do a 240 package bulk stop return to center do a route till 10pm and repeat.

I can't speak for bulk routes and little hubs I know there's some easy routes out there that people milk. But for bigger hubs that push heavy volume its not healthy.

And how is this done when the air can’t get to the bldg in time, drivers on the clock 45 min before they even start the car, and daily air meets?
Waiting to see what happens with this lower paid day. Yes the shuttles have stopped here finally after months of driving out of our way. Air is still late as you said, it appears they are having trouble with the scanning due to too many newbies walking around in a daze and scanning some packages but not all of them. We have been leaving later but with maybe 5 to 6 air stops since dispatch is spreading the air to the unusual amount of split cars. This lower paid day campaign relates to the contract (yes vote) they are showing us that they can control the volume since I found out last night that trailers on the yard right now are planned for next weeks dispatch. Its been peak season all year since they didn't run extra routes. IMO they made quite a nest egg and are using it now to pay for all these new people. The OR is not a good tool at all to determine a planned day. How can it be with too many e regs and no time study done in well cant remember the last one.

They are going to take most of my pick ups off of me. I can live with that.the

I have aged a little over the last two years since they drag their feet on practically everything with no communication between the driver and management

Why are you people worried. This company couldn't even do "on-time network" for two weeks!

It will fall apart.

@TearsInRain they can say they are going to hire as many helpers as possible but that doesn't mean it will happen. Half my building had to share helpers because they couldn't hire enough. No one wants to do the jobs anymore for minimum wage.

I heard 10 dollars an hour according to one article, good grief that's just enough for gas to meet the driver or bus fair.

Yep and don't forget most drivers don't want them and treat them like crap and try to get rid of them in 4 hours. Then the center tries to put them with another driver that day. So now they are losing more money.

I recently posted information about the new plan that our center had started everyone has an 8.6 planned day. Now we are into the third phase of this after 2 1/2 months. The third phase is now 8.5 planned a day nobody that includes union shop steward's safety and people who drive The air shuttle for an example The air shuttle who picks up the air is in the morning and brings them to the center normally takes about three hours now he is only eligible for another 4 1/2 hours so they have cut that route and a half where previously he would do a normal route day on top of four hours of work because he cannot extend past 9 1/2 hours now everyone else has an 85 day they're trying to push everyone being in at 8 1/2. Just like you guys I was extremely skeptical but I truly believe this company is heading in that direction in addition the company has hired in our center five new drivers to make this plan work in the meantime they have changed all pick ups that would infringe upon drivers make the 85 planned a day so they all have a new pick up times. I will tell you in my 31 years of working with this company I never seen that coming a lot of guys now are truly complaining about the loss of wages because of the lack of overtime and now they're talking about in the end everyone we have an 8.2 day meaning everyone would be in an 8.2 hours. Now I know a lot of guys complain about the overtime but those same guys now are actually working on Saturdays. I mean go figure?truly this is not right they should allow those who want to work the overtime do it and for those that don't should be able to opt out. Anyhow this is one of the reasons why I do not like the new contract they should allow those that want the overtime to get it. apparently it's actually happening in 25 other centers and they are supposed to add more companywide in October. I know sometimes I read things here and think no way that'll never happen and then it comes to our center but this I truly feel they are going to make happen. I know one of the other things Will be is Christmas they can't do it during Christmas according to the center manager they are trying to keep that plan day we actually already have all of the golf carts and trailers at our center I know the middle of October they can start using Christmas help and they anticipate doing that to keep the driver is payday down. Like I said after 31 years of being here I have never seen the company be so aggressive and doing this and getting rid of overtime for all the drivers. I will keep you posted as I hear more.
They have done this before...give it a couple months...you will be begging to have a light week again...

The majority of xmas's past I had a real problem with how long I can use them. Every helper is different according to size and how useful they are. Just let me use them how I see fit. They will bail on us when they don't get enough hours. Maybe the lower paid day and extra drivers is another way to reduce the helpers since 50% of them suck

4 belt building here...working like a charm. All of sudden we have no problem with people working Saturday...strange.
All this won’t matter much to you when we vote this contract down and you are suddenly out of a job, being replaced by the 24 year old pt preload sup who just got promoted to center manager...
