"One" of the few kids who grew up with a great work ethic.
I was raised in a county that had the highest percentage of farms in our state and the kids that grew up on those farms were the most successful young people I've ever met per capita.
Their sports programs won more state championships than any other high school in the state.
Discipline, humility, and respect were easily seen as the qualities these young folks portrayed.
But how many of them stayed and continued to work those lands? Given that the average age of an American farmer is 59 doesn't look like there were many who did. So please spare me your "Green Acres" view of rural America. The numbers speak otherwise and will become even more evident after the 2020 census.

A political movement in 21st century America is driven by money and law is not made on the basis of one small groups idea of morality. As long as the pro lifers continue to refuse to address the impact an overturning of Roe will have on the public coffers RVW will remain finished law. You keep carping about the need to control public spending....Well, this is one way to do it In addition the federal budget process requires that if you spend additional money in one area it is to be cut someplace else.....And don't forget the deficits you are always belly aching about.

Just because they didn’t stay on the farm to work doesn’t mean they didn’t learn the tools and values that have lead to success later in life there.
We had trouble keeping part timers for the longest time. HR was hiring college students and minoriities almost exclusively. Many local farmers sons and daughters had been trying to get on for awhile. Finally after a few years of the average pt leaving in week one or two they started hiring farmers kids.
Suddenly turnover was much less and many have become drivers. They learned the work ethic on the farm but applied it somewhere else.
Americans are not all Catholic. In addition she spent her entire life trying to improve the squalid conditions in Calcutta and other similar areas. So it begs the question: if you can't take care of the kids you already have ,why have more? Now why are there scores of people pounding on the doors of our Southern border demanding to get in? According to UN figures the population of Honduras has grown 500 % since 1950. Want to know what the problem is? Well, there it is.
If they are so virtuous in their nature and upbringing why are they leaving the farm?
One of the best drivers at my center is a farmer. Don't know how he juggles both, but the man is a machine. Really great guy.
We definitely could use more like him. HR thinks otherwise, given the crop of new people we've been getting.
