Again, I need to disagree with you.
Education is paid by property taxes, and even if the parents just rent, property taxes are included in the rent.
Secondly, if you don't educate youngsters, the long term effect is, they can't get jobs, and are more likely to become criminals, such as drug dealers, robbers, prostitutes and so on.

Even if they are forced to go back to Mexico after school is finished, atleast they stand a chance to make an honest living there, and won't cause any future trouble for the American or Mexican society.
It's a win, win situation.

I don't know if it was so much that immigrants loved America or that they simply wanted a better life but I do agree that when they came to America they embraced the opportunity, learned the language and made America what it is today. Immigrants today have the mindset of "what's in it for me".

Dave, I can't speak for anyone but me but, when I hear that the immigrants of the past loved America, I think that it was more like they loved the American Dream which gave them a certain love for America. Today it seems that the immigrants only want, want and want and wanting a chance to make a successful transition to being an American doesn't seem to be a priority. I know that is probably an over estimated observation, but I can only base my opinions on what I see.

I realize the states have to subsidize education on top of property taxes, just like here.
So, those illegals pay state sales tax, which some of that flows into education.
They might not pay income taxes, and therfor not state income taxes. So, they save 5 cents on the dollar, that the normal taxpayer has to pay for.
Thats a very small price, not to rob kids from education.

Actually, the proper response to post 1891 would have been to tell the poster to mind his own business( let the hardware man focus on his own store and let the 99 cent store owner focus on his own store instead of the two telling each other how to run their businesses) and focus on his own country's problems (that is if he believes he should focus on a country and not on his own personal domain)

First of all, you would have to be a blind and deaf person in Canada, not to hear from american news, politics, etc.
Secondly, Canada and the USA are more then just border countries. We are very much integrated together, mostly thru free trade (the worlds largest trading zone), and even with oil pipelines, electricity networks, and manufacturing. As well as farming and animal breeding. And probably much more.

There are certain things in the US, that I would like to introduce to Canada, forsure, and vice versa.
Same as from Germany, like build public transportion, city and country wide, that takes you from point A to point B,faster then any car could ever do. (and cheaper).

I pretty much know how the germans dealt with political issues, as I do Canada, and yes, even the US.
We get all your shows here (60 minutes, dateline, CNN, Fox, and whatever else).
Canadians are very aware of what's going on south of us.
And , yes, it is important to us.

And a little bit of input of Canadian or German political opinion shouldn't hurt you a bit.
