Sometimes it’s a guy who doesn’t even know that the corners of the chassis need to be secured. Sometimes it’s a guy who can be shamed into doing better if he knows we can figure out who brought that mess into the yard. And for the lazy a holes, it’s a counter argument to when they get on their soapboxes about doing “the right thing”.
You have a point there. It could actually be a driver who does not know better and you are helping them out.

we had a driver that brought one of those chassis thru the scale with all 4 locks not locked up. It was a $2000 fine. $500 for each lock. I was just thinking about the lame asses like the drivers who hook up to set and are out the gate in 15 minutes.

no excuse for that.

Agree- get in trouble for taking too long on "start work" or get in trouble for losing a trailer on highway- possibly causing fatality? I'll go with thorough pre-trip.

Thinking about putting my letter in to HR to be put on the feeders list.. I just wanted to know if there is a donut limit we can eat per day??

Seriously though, I want to know pros and cons of feeders vs package car.. low seniority;3rd shift for 5+ years?? Maybe less??

Btw I’m 29 had back surgery 3 year ago. It was a minor surgery, dr shaved down 2 disc that were pinching a nerve. I have nerve damage in my left leg knee to toes.

Honestly package car doesn’t strain me. I’m 60hrs a week every week I follow all methods, I call for help ANYTIME the package is over 70. Over 70’s have vanished from my truck the last 2 weeks ‍♂️

So honest opinion. can my back survive package car if I continue to follow these methods for 28 more year??

My biggest fear in feeders is I never worked 3rd shift. I have friends who work 3rd shift in warehouse and they always looks miserable and tired.. what type of schedule does a new feeder drive have?

It’s impossible to answer your question because each hub is different. But the job is completely different. No more rush, rush, rush. And everyone is different working nights. Some hate it, I love them.

Best thing to do is talk to a few people in feeders that are about your seniority level. Go check out the staffing schedule to look at start times and find a copy of the TTQ list to find out how many people will be above you and below you. Dracula is right, everywhere is different. The longer you wait, probably the more ticked you’ll be at yourself for not going into feeders sooner.

No chance you make it to retirement in package. Zero. I just got home from my 3rd shift last night. Drove around in the AC all night listening to music BSing on my phone. Didn’t break a sweat. Didn’t lift a finger. Feeders is a joke. It’s a lottery ticket.

This question has been asked so many times on this thread. Go back and read about 1000 posts here on the subject. Seriously though, Dracula is right. It's different for everyone but it's true that you had wished you switched sooner.

All depends on your location. If you’re near a big place than you’ll be on in no time. At my hub it’s sitting at a ten year wait for a Day bid and around two/three years being on call. Being on call sucks ass, they’ll call you in at 3pm one day and 2am the next, it’s all over the place.

I’m not a fan of nights but it is what it is. On top of that, the yard is a huge traffic jam at night so everything is a pain in the ass. If your up north, plan on running all the :censored2: weather runs in winter because those guys call off.

So if we call a "big box" a ZZZ are there ZZ and Z ?
Lol, all sorts of class trailers! Maybe someone on here will explain them, I hate when they ask me when I inbound..

Triple Z are the "new" UPS 53 footers.
Z are the 800 series that are prefixed UPSZ. (Did you know if it's UPSO, that means theres glad hands on the back?)
My pickups need an X class, I believe thats just 722s or 742s.
LC = Long Chassis.

Been in Feeder since April. I love it. I could've gone two years ago and I do regret it now. Hours are all over the place but you can work it to your advantage. Monday thru Friday run one week, sleeper run next week you have a long weekend using no FHP's. I'm home more and I'm with the family more.

I believe X can also be the new ZZZ type trailers that start with 1. I was pre-dispatched "find empty ZZZ", grabbed one of those and it failed to outbound automatically. The new dispatch guy told me it was an X type trailer.

I thought all sleeper runs had dedicated teams. How does that work?

If one guy is on vacation, the other can take someone of his choosing with him for the week.

So make some friends who do sleeper.

I bought this fridge that runs on 12v power. (It wasn't cheap but so worth it) Keeps all my food and drinks nice and cold. No eating garbage at truck stops. I also picked up a lunch box that heats up my food. I prepare food in aluminum loaf pans, heat it up and I have a great home cooked meal.
