I'm originally from south florida although I moved for the military I still have good friends there. One of my brothers friends works for ups down there.
Full time wait is 8 years but is going down as new construction is pick up again. At one point on the last 10 years it was one year one day.
His first route was a beach route. No one wants them as the traffic sucks and all the condos push your stop count through the roof.

Nobody retires and moves to Florida in the summer either. Every northerner I've ever know who moved to Florida "for good" came back north after a summer or two.
