If you were not on company time but on your own time after you finished your assignment and had a beer on your unpaid lunch I would have to agree that you may be able to grieve this and get your job back especially if you were under the b.a.c. limit...You made a mistake of judgment and were not driving the vehicle on company time and assumed being under the legal limit would be acceptable! I guarantee that management has gone out to lunch and had some drinks on there own time and came back under the limit and have driven a UPS vehicle! Argue you made a mistake and you opt for a chance to redeem yourself!


It may be a long shot but not impossible!

You wouldn't want it, nobody did, thats why I got it.
up to 548 packages to deliver in 10 hrs. starting time 7:45, and be back at center at 7pm. about 35 min travel time to distination.
Besides, it's in Canada. Also do an airmeet at 3pm.
Total stops range from 70 - 130.

I do 80 to 90 stops around 300 pkgs in 5 hours before my pups. 45 min travel time one way. take my lunch and my breaks on rte. If I dont finish then its their prob not mine.

And thats without beer until I get home.

My day, was kind of planned... have something to eat there, and yes, a cold one, too. Then head over to the casino nearby, and watch a former customer play in her band there. Thats why I returned there.(after 7 weeks).
Again, no big deal, they have severeal of those franchises thru out the city. Just can't go to that one anymore.

I agree! And (if the story is true) why would the tavern owner CARE about UPS asking questions. He did nothing wrong. If I had been the tavern owner, I would have laughed at them.
And I would have welcomed Klein back, why in the world would he ban him from patronizing his business?

Yeah, I totally agree with you. They shouldn't have interfered in that matter at all.
But, thats what happens, they put investigations into it.
Just silly, that a franchise that size, has barred me out of there.
But, there is more to the story, that I haven't told yet. :

When I got caught, the bartender reacted actually in a prompt matter, he said, he'll give me a receipt for a non-alcohic beer, which I gladly accepted. And thaned him for his quick thinking.
Last Friday when I went back, I wanted to thank him again, and thats when he told me he couldn't serve me anymore. The incident went way beyond anything he could have imagined.
I was still hoping to get my job back by then. But, after that little visit, I knew UPS tore that place apart, and found out the truth, that it was infact a real beer.
Ofcourse, all hopes of getting my job back are gone now, and I stopped the griviance on Monday, comming clean with the union and opoligizing to them.

How did ups find out that it was a beer that you drank thet day? Did they bring in grism from csi to print the glasses and test the liquid in the glasses?

Did you ever take a breathalyzer? Or are you just a troll? What building in Canada are you in so we can find out if you are real?

No, didn't take a breathalyzer. I would have passed it anyway, since it was only 1. They just went back there, probably haunted the bartender soo much, and manager, that the truth came out.
As far as I know, they might even have a copy of the survelliance camera.
But something terrible has happened, since I can no longer visit that restaurant.

I feel you couldn't be making this all up, and they have lots of time on there hands to do all of this. Now I know there must be cameras watching me go the bathroom, lol. I am glad and always will be an inside worker, and on a list for inside/inside. You did make a mistake, but I hear you drivers work your asses off. GOOD LUCK

Even the union told me, That UPS refuses to talk to them over my matter. I know they either have a tape, or a written statement from that lounge.
They have to, otherwise they would be sooo much in the wrong.
On the brighter side, the supervisor that I once had, he has been fired too, about 3 weeks ago. He was a lifer, and I know much more hurting then I am.
Call that "Schadenfreude"
