If my plans for Alaska fall thru, We can probley cruise in July. How ever, right now it's looking more like Old International will get to dip his toe in the Arctic ocean

You are actually free to travel to Cuba.
Just you'll need to go thru Mexico or Canada to get there.

Just bring tip money, or better yet, small dollar store gifts, of things they can't get there much, like coloring or text books, pens, crayons, etc.
They loved that much more then money !
:whiteflag:
You couldn't pay me enough to go to Cuba......that's like those 3 hikers that hopped over the border and have been in custody for a year now in one of the 'stans". Couldn't they find hiking trails in the U.S.A.?
That's what happens when you're in the CIA

There'd better be plenty of pictures, Mr.!

Two thoughts....Kinda looks like we're a little split between WHEN everyone can go, with Steve and Trp ok with July and Helen and OI unable to do that...With Cheryl and me, we will follow the herd...I think.

The way I see it is....We can switch to September and join OI in Alaska or We see how many others including Trp's group can go in July...

Anyone have any other ideas??

I'm pretty flexible, but I wanted to include my family. I can go either way though, because they'll still love me.

Damn, Steve!! that is one flexible kid! No, no, no Tony> I am good to go whenever. I will trade weeks with someone else, or get someone else to pick my weeks. No problem with me. Cruise is on for whenever everyone wants to go. My daughters and a son-in-law now included in wher ever we go.

Ok Helen...You're a real [-]trooper[/-] cruiser!!:happy-very:

So far it looks like July then...Hey OI you'll just have to go on two cruises next year!:wink2:

I have some other cruise friends that are kicking around a late season Caribbean cruise for 2011, I think they are talking late July, if it worked out to combine these two groups that might help in making the better discounts.

Trp, this sounds like a good idea, the more the merrier!!

OI, should just rent a moterhome from Edmonton, start at mile 1. Take his time cruising in a motorhome and back, and it's half the price !

yes , half the price and much more work. I am sure that O.I. would just love to take a vacation from driving only to have to drive on his vacation. And how is he going to get to Edmonton?, is he going to just magically transport there or will he have to pay airfare to get there as well?I realize that u are apparently on the Edmonton chamber of commerce but just because u are doesn't mean u have to take every opportunity to plug it's member businesses?

Got news for you, an Alaska Cruise starts in Vancouver or Seattle (if you go northbound).
Otherwise it starts in Alaska, and ends in Vancouver or Seattle.

Ofcourse he needs to fly no matter what.
Motorhome cruise can be very interessting in September to Alaska.
You'ld see all the wildlife, plenty of bears, plus the Salmon run is in September (you'll see strives of beaten up salmon swimming upstream), and many bears getting a feeding frezzy out of that.

Plus all the Glaciers and Mountains along the way.
But, yes, much more time consuming, but never boring !

Just because I am a feeder driver does not mean I have the key for the gold vault at Fort Knox. Only one cruise every 18 months or so..........Please

I was in Hyder, Alaska (I drove there in September), can't remember the bear feeding time.
It was morning, maybe 10 am.
You drove to the creek, they had a US Ranger there for security reasons, and you can watch the bears feed from the salmon in the creek/river.
After the Grizzlys ate, then the Blackbears would come out and feed.
(Blackbears would patiently wait, until the grizzlys were done with breakfast).
It was neat.
But, yes, all along the stretches of road, you'll encounter bears, elk, moose, mountain goats, just to name a few animals.
It's worth the experience.
And if Old takes another couple along, then the motorhome rental even gets cheaper.
If he just travels as a couple, they have nice raised roof camper vans to rent.
They sleep up to 4, have fridge, stove, microwave, table, everything in it, and cheaper then the motorhome, and cheaper on gas, too.

Just looking over the pictures from the cruise. Good times. Not enuf souvenirs bought, not enuf ice cream cones, not enuf of those $$$$ umbrella drinks, not enuf time. Yeah, count me in, whenever. OI, tell your wife there is a scrap booking group that will be on board. That will get her to twist your arm and go on both cruises. Remember Roatan and how it had that fake village when you docked? And when you took a bus to the real Roatan, another story. And Belize with the tiny little sandbars that the ship had to dodge because of the reef? Beautiful green water, humid air and unforgettable memories. Count me IN!!!! (And Amy, and Erica, and Jason) (2 rooms please. Balcony. See how easy I am for planning? Just tell me when and how to send the money to Amy.) Come on people, start saving money now.

Ahhh...The essence of a cruise by helenofcalifornia!

If that doesn't get more people interested I just don't know what will!!:happy2: Helen speaks from experience...experience from going on the first cruise....It's a blast and something you are guaranteed to remember for a long time...

So it looks like July 2011 could be our time frame...Now we need to recruit others, how about Over, Hoax, Scratch, and all the others (please help me if I'm forgetting anyone) that showed an interest in doing a B.C. cruise before.....?

Ok....WHO WANTS TO GO ON A CRUISE?

Uh....STUG would be going I hope. Give the guy the free room if we get enuf people. I really don't care if anyone else thinks he shouldn't get it. Only the people going should have any say so on it. This guy went above and beyond in meeting us the night before we left and ensuring that our cruise would be memorable. He traveled hours from where he lives to see us off and take us to that great sports bar with the "not big enuf tables for everybody." And pictures. He took pictures.
As I said, we already have two rooms for potential booking. Just need to know the when, where's and how muches. Don't even care if we go to the western Caribbean again. That was a blast and now that I know how to do it the right way, it will be even more fun. Cheryl, Tony and Jessica (bring scissors?) love to cruise. You could put a face to that woman that's in that box that goes by the name of Cheryl. Don't bother Tony, it's "Shark Week!" on TV.

Helen, I learned something new about cruises today.
Like, in your case it might be cheaper to book a family suite. It has 2 seperate large bedrooms, each with their on TV, etc, and both rooms join into the common living area, that is also connected to a large balcony.
Plus you get many bonus items, such as free fill of the mini bar, free unlimited internet access in the internet cafe, free use of the spa, and use of the embarktion lounge (one of the first to embark), also free laundry service.

Ofcourse, 4 bc/lers that get along could also take advantage of splitting a family suite together.
