Not planning on going....but it will cost you a good nugget to fly to San Juan. I would focus on miami ...fort lauderdale sailing ports. One of the cheaper places to fly to from most part of the country. Once you get your departure port and month...that will help narrow the search.

KOF,

I agree...The cruise we took in April left out of Miami..We flew Non stop from LAX to Miami...sweet! Even sweeter we used our accumulated miles to upgrade to First class!

Actually, in the sommer , (atleast this year it worked out for me), that southern all inclusive resorts, such as Cozelmel, Cancun are hurting soo much, even the airlines flying there, that it's cheaper to book an all inclusive week stay there, then to actually buy flight tickets.
You could easily get 2 vacations in 1 ($500 gives you the flight and all inclusive for the week, and then continue on with the cruise).
I'm sure if you called the airline, you could fly out of the resort a week later, with no extra costs.

Something to consider, maybe ?
I never looked into San Juan for all inclusive, yet.... but surely they must have them... if not sail from Cozelmel/Cancun... no big deal, if the price is right.

Ahhh...The essence of a cruise by helenofcalifornia!

If that doesn't get more people interested I just don't know what will!!:happy2: Helen speaks from experience...experience from going on the first cruise....It's a blast and something you are guaranteed to remember for a long time...

So it looks like July 2011 could be our time frame...Now we need to recruit others, how about Over, Hoax, Scratch, and all the others (please help me if I'm forgetting anyone) that showed an interest in doing a B.C. cruise before.....?

Ok....WHO WANTS TO GO ON A CRUISE?

I'm in... I can't wait to meet all of you..

Will the ship be big enough ? Are weapons allowed?

Well, as I do almost daily, I checked for travel deals.
For the first time I came across an all inclusive flight, and hotel package to San Juan (mind you, I was looking at Montreal departure, that I normally don't do).
Anyways, $700 for the week, which includes all taxes and airport fees, and ofcourse flight, hotel, all meals and drinks.

So, back to my original thought. Maybe it's a good idea to cruise out of San Juan ?
Some bc/lers could just go for the all inclusive week (without the cruise), and others could take in both.

The price is about the same as booking a flight only to Florida, paying for hotel extra, plus food.
And this way, you'll probably get more BC/lers together ?

oh yeah, the all inclusive (most of them) let kids under 12 eat and stay for free, too, providing they are in the same room as their parents.

So, this is something to think about Tony, and Helen, Old, Cherly, and so on.

Btw, Contintal, Delta, and most other airlines offer these vacation packages..... to Cozelmel as well.

A group over 10, if all booked with the same airline vacation, could also give you further discounts.

Hey Klein, just a suggestion, not a slam in anyway. You should start a" travel deal" thread in "life after Brown", you can give daily tips you have found. At worst, it will give you something to do.

Sorry, I don't search American travel sites.
Only departures out of Edmonton interesst me.
However, I do get discounts for tons of resorts in the Caribbean, Florida and Mexico (e-mail alerts, because I have visited them before).
Those discounts can range from free rental car, to 50% off, or kids stay and eat free.
People should just contact me, if they plan to head somewhere south.
I'll simple give them the promo code, and they can book it themselves.

Besides, trpinkl, I actually tried that before, but the thread got shut down, because it was considered advertising.

Klein, Tex has given you a very good suggestion which was not a slam in anyway. This would be more convenient for you as you would have your own thread in which to post any travel deals you would like to pass along to us and we would have one place to go if we are looking for travel deals. I do sincerely hope that you consider taking his advice.

I tried that a few months ago. The thread didn't last 2 hrs.
Moreluck complained, and said it was advertising.
And the moderator agreed. Even I think it's some kind of advertising, even though there is zero dollars in it for myself.
How can I post travel deals, without links and prices ?
So, that's out of the question.

That being said, anyone is welcome to pm me, if they need a discounted stay for a week anywhere in the world, but mostly North America (with Islands).
Or just ask me, if I can get a better deal then they have been quoted at.
No problem. I'm grateful to help.

Here is another offer that made my e-mail inbox today. Comming from priceline.

If you book a suite 9 months in advance you get $300 onboard credit.
However it departs out of New York, with 2 stops in the Bahamas, and 1 in Florida.
You also get 2 free hotel nights in NY (can be used before and after departures).

Check out June 4th departure ($849 for balcony, but only $999 for suite) and remember suite comes with $300 onboard credit, that also can be used for excursions.

Here is a second offer from priceline, too.
Eastern Caribbean.
Also includes 2 nights hotel stay.
But more expensive:

Cape Canaveral, I believe they have Nasa Tours/ Museums there.... Very interessting.

It's on Norwegian Cruiselines , too (1 of the upper scale ones).

Yes on your Port Canaveral information but Norwegian is nowhere near an upper scale line

Hate me or love me, but I felt I needed to put this last minute deal on here :

A week long getaway to Ft Lauderdale and Cruise to Bahamas (must be booked by Aug 25th for travel before Sept 2nd).

Example: Includes return Airfare from Los Angelas to Fort Lauderdale ($214.00 total price with taxes), 4 day Cruise to Bahamas (ship is all inclusive - free drinks, meals, alcohol ), 3 nights stay at a beautiful resort, with white sandy beaches, pool, etc (price per Cruise & Stay is $199 per adult, all taxes and port fees included, however Resort is not all inclusive).
Does include over $200 in Island discounts per couple, though.

And you'll need 2 nights stay in Ft Lauderdale (this time of year $60 per night for a very good one).

Total price per couple $946 ($473 per person)

Cities close to FLL probably a tad cheaper flight wise.. further away, a bit more.
Children under 18 ? - minimum 50% discount on the cruise and stay.
