Biggest joke I’ve seen in this thread so far is Christians considering themselves persecuted by equality and painting some counter culture narrative of being Christian in the United States.

These 2 verses are a great example as to why you need direct illumination from the person of the Holy Spirit to understand religious writings and why the scripture and man’s intellect alone are insufficient and arguably impotent to understand religious written documents such as the Bible.
It would also help if you understand the context in which it's written. The Apostle Paul when writing to the Galatians was writing to congregations that were divided by former religions as well as ethnicity. He wasn't trying to change the whole world with that verse. We make a mistake when we apply our modern culture to verses written at that time. It's why Biblical scholars research the meaning and nuances of the Hebrew and Greek languages. Today we have women voting, living independently of men, wearing revealing clothing, etc. We see a verse like the one you cited and some think that confirms that the early Church was 100% behind what people want today. But as the verse in 1 Corinthians shows the concept of women being totally equal with men at that time was as foreign to them as if a spaceship landed from Mars. Try as we might some of today's mores can't be justified using the Bible.

Be careful when you claim that the Holy Spirit will illuminate what you feel is right or wrong on your own, for we are all flawed humans who sin. It's the exact same comparison to everyone that justifies their sins based around how THEY wish their life to be. Best we can do is pray for guidance and asking if you are following his path for life; while also doing our research as to what the meanings of biblical teaching means through many sources.
