Starting wage is a waste of time.
Why not? International brother hood!!!! Brother!!! We should be under the same ups contract right.... o wait, they have diff health care and pension systems.... thus proving my point.

You guys must have each others phone numbers and group chat all day about browncafe... would be nice if you guys would put all this energy into a contract with no concessions instead!!!
Says the guy that is voting no already? And they do not vote on the same contract for reasons why Airports, sanitation, construction etc, doesn't vote on yours. But for some strange reason they all vote for a president. Maybe we should split the union up and vote on 45 different presidents?

He knows, but only stick to talking points that fit his ideology.
I know, but I'm trying to engage him. I'd like to delve into his mentality. My guess is it's to much to debate with me if I know more of his story. Some people are only comfortable complaining.

What does sups working have to do with pension funds?

If you're implying that current employees pay for current retirees benefits......well that's a Ponzi scheme and we should be fighting to end that model.

Every hour a union member works ups contibrutes money into the pension fund. So if supervisors are working less money is going into our fund!!! Wake up people!!

Every hour worked is also more money someone earns towards pension credits also.

I'm not saying sups working is a good thing. I'm just tell you it doesn't really have anything to do with pensions.

See here is some dialogue I can use. You and I had superior language on 9.5 prior to the last contract. We went by the central region language. It was switched to the master language for 9.5. The Monday through Friday language is flawed compared to what we had. This is something I agree with you on. So how many have submitted proposals on this?

I submitted a proposal on this today. Therefore, I have a right to agree or disagree simply because I choose to be involved.

We have a contract meeting coming up I think. It's an hour and half drive for me so I'm not sure if I can make it but I'll send a list with my stewards if I don't.

Rehashing the blame game in my opinion isn't going to be constructive. It pours gasoline on a fire. We are trying to grow the forest back, right?
I was honestly answering the question.
Blame wouldn't be the word I'd use. When this next CBA is negotiated it'll show what's ahead and until then we are still in the one being discussed.
With all due respect, you answered your own question.... right ?

The devil is in the details.... and the majority voted for it.

Trying to kill the messenger (post mortem) is an exercise in futility.
-Bug-
The majority passed it (nationally) with two whole regions voting the healthcare changes into OUR families without being subject to it themselves.
I'm not trying to kill any messenger. I responded to the question posted about "what concessions?".

I'm not reliving the past @LeadBelly , I'm posting reality and there's no one who has tried to help with fence mending in this arena than me. You know this is truth.

But right now I'm a little po'd about a few things here and the issues at hand are reality as well, which you are not totally affected by. We give seats of honor to leadership that though they have the power to help members they turn around and screws teamsters instead.
There's light on your side of the mountain while we sit in darkness.
It bs and many stewards know it.

I'm all about replanting the forest. But nothing has changed for us except for the worse.
People are angry. And they are justified in how they feel here locally.

Great union we have. Went to work today and finially got the "contract points" hands out today. Meeting is Sunday. Me and another brother who are both involved as heavily as we can both have prior obligations that will force us to miss this meeting. Luckallly my ba was there, I raised some concerns and he said he will bring them up. Damn sure I will ask come Monday from my other brothers if they were brought up. Some easy points I brought up were

1. We lost Black Friday, I want an option day in return
2. The Saturday ground guys are now working split days off. They work sat, get off sun, come in Monday and end up with a tue/wed/thu off. We DESERVE 2 consecutive days. I have talked to the ba, he told me tell them to file to get the ball rolling. I told them, they don't want to be "targets"
3. No more concessions to a company posting record profits who also have a nice fat account (teamcare)

I try to help out, especially these prospects and tech them the contract. I do 100% what I can. If you want to know what I do wideload or leadbelly, I'm in the trenches building trust with the 1/3rd of center drivers who are brand new trying to educate them. I hope that's enough for u guys.

What region do you work in?

The Central Region already has language to protect our schedules.

Sounds like you may have that language too.....

.....if your coworkers have the nuts to assert their rights?

If they do, we will all have the opportunity to make more coin.

I'm pretty sure I got the information I was looking for in his last post. You gave him good advice, but we can't do it for him. It takes a man with some stones to stand up. We all know your u have these stones. It's his turn now!
