Is it possible that an asteroid will strike tonight and wipe out most life on Earth?

You're destroying the entire world economy for some BS hypothetical?

:censored2:ing idiot.

Two choices.

A: Underreact
B: Overreact

When you overreact and everything turns out fine, people complain that you overreacted.

When you underreact, people complain that you didn't do enough.

Kid, this party is just getting started.

When you overreact and destroy the entire economy, you think you succeeded?

That's just stupid.

Take a look at disparity of life expectancy between poor and rich. Causing economic collapse kills people. Typical shortsighted Democrat garbage.

So if it fizzles by May?
What are the political implications?

Wish I could tell. Don't know how long small businesses can hold on. And something like 50% of all Americans are employed by small businesses. If they can, and all that really happens is we add a couple trillion onto the national debt to keep people afloat between now and then, Trump would probably be fine in November.

I know, a couple trillion added to the debt is no small thing. But people are envisioning losing everything right now. And we now know that the Bernie / @rickyb 2020 ticket won't be able to execute on the massive spending plans they had in mind.

When you overreact and destroy the entire economy, you think you succeeded?

100%. I don't think a lotta people understand how bad a prolonged shutdown could get. Great idea to follow Fauci and try it for maybe a month or two. Beyond that, no way.

I think it's really serious. But also that US healthcare capacity isn't nearly what the dotted line on the chart indicates. Think that line is much lower. So I hope we're not shutting everything down only to be flooded with severe cases that can't be handled anyway. There's gotta be a massive increase in capacity every day the economy is shut down or the shut down isn't gonna make a big difference.

Americans aren't going to be willing to stay in their houses for months on end. Might have to go for herd immunity if it becomes clear that even more Americans would die as a result of a severe depression than would if we lock the older folks up and try to live life.

We'll see.

I think we'll have a better picture two weeks from now.

Hopefully the shutdowns and 'social distancing' will help us 'flatten the curve'.

I'm slow, but I finally realized that 'flatten the curve' meant spreading out the transmission rate so that the severe infections don't overwhelm the hospitals.

Which means 60-70% of every person on the planet is gonna get the virus, we just aren't prepared for the rush of ICU patients.

FFS.

So, your idea is...what?
