We still don’t know everything about this virus. Pretending China did months ago and could have prevented the spread is idiotic. Actually, I am pretty sure right now in the U.S. one is statically more likely to get covid19 than the flu.
Can't find any reliable info on current influenza rates due to the focus and over reporting of covid19.

You’re probably more likely to catch Covid but from the looks of it you’re more likely to actually get sick from influenza. There aren’t as many asymptomatic carriers of influenza. Children get sick from influenza. Covid is more likely to kill the already sick but for healthy people it’s likely not a huge deal.

You’re assuming the Chinese knew everything we now know about the virus when it started. That’s obviously a false assumption unless you believe the conspiracy that it is a manufactured virus well studied before it’s public intentional release.
