"On Friday, July 17, during a press conference, a spokesperson mentioned that 85 infants under the age of one had tested positive for coronavirus," Canales said in a statement released Saturday afternoon. "This number reflects the cumulative total of positive tests for infants under the age of 1 since the beginning of testing in mid-March, which has resulted in 8171 positive test results."

Canales' statement was meant to indicate the total number of infants who have tested positive throughout the pandemic.

"However, without this context, stating this number during our press conference led many to believe that we had a sudden surge in infants under the age of one testing positive. We have NOT had a sudden surge of 85 infants testing positive."

thats true but is it on an equal level?

What difference does it make? People who sistrust government are more likely to try to explain inconsistencies with theories, and when the government is involved, it would logically require many people working together, hence the conspiracy. Right wingers/conservatives, whatever, tend to distrust the government in general. Liberals/democrats/leftists (whatever label you want to use) are more likely to trust the representatives they identify with, which makes them more susceptible to deception.

The real question is, which is worse, chasing rabbits down theoretical, conspiritorial holes, or being a lamb led to the slaughter?

right wing is led to the slaughter as well with their beliefs. they trust authoritarian corporations but not govt. its a lack of understanding of power. i definitely dont trust corporations, and we need more democracy like more power from below.

Right wing conspiracy theorists simultaneously believe the government is incompetent and also capable of massive conspiracies that need hundreds of people to pull off.
