Coronavirus

That would be incorrect. If everyone actually followed the public health guidance our economy would be better off. If people wore masks and didn’t pretend they were lizard people mind control more livelihoods would be spared. I hired many people during the pandemic. I currently employ more people than I really need because unemployment is so high. I eat out about 10 times more than I did before the pandemic to keep restaurants alive. I get haircuts biweekly when I used to go 18 months to help keep the local barber in business. The economy will never be healthy until the virus is contained.
OK that’s good to hear. We just have different ideas about the way to proceed. And it’s frustrating for both of us when we view the other camp as ruining everything.

Ha! Cost nothing? That's rich! I mean, sure, it doesn't cost anything to tell people they must wear a mask, but enforcement costs. Lack of compliance costs. Purchasing and maintaining masks cost. Taking the time to wear them and change them out properly costs.

That is actually a step too far for the enforcers, not even they care enough to make sure people are doing it properly. Or that employers are providing time and enough masks for employees to use masks properly, defeating any point mask mandates might have ever had if masks were effective against virus spread to begin with.

Cleaning up filthy masks that have been carelessly discarded costs. Carrying out manual labor with decreased blood oxygen levels costs. Kids, who aren't the greatest with hygiene, being forced to wear masks and not being given guidance on wearing and changing them out properly who end up with staph infections on their faces cost.

That's just the stuff off the top of my head.
I guess you could say mask mandates don't cost anything, if truth isn't important.
alot of this stuff is a simple fix.

kids have problems self regulating. alot of adults do too.

It will be fine

I think the lockdowns went way overboard. I think masks and distancing work to slow the spread. My kids have been in private school since June with both precautions and they haven’t registered any cases. I believe awareness and taking the virus seriously would go a long way. Pretending masks don’t work doesn’t help anything.

trumps decision to ride infected with Secret service affects those agents. prime example why he shouldnt have been allowed to make that decision.
For all we know they were aware of the risks.
At the very least, they choose themselves whether to wear a mask and keep social distance. They choose to go to work knowing they may be exposed to the virus.

Secret service agents that have worked their entire career to get to presidential duty don’t really have a choice. They are patriots that do what the president needs. If the president cared about them he wouldn’t put them in that position for a photo op.

Cool, it’s nice finding common ground when it seems at first you have nothing in common.

Can you just acknowledge that it’s frustrating for us that don’t want to have to mask up being forced to, and not knowing how long we will have to?

Also, can you admit there’s even a small chance that they’re not effective?

Condoms aren’t 100% effective but if you’re hitting some strange you should wear one. I don’t enjoy wearing a mask anymore than a condom but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s the correct decision.

I'm a star

Again, you miss the point. I wasn't even listing those as reasons not to wear masks, even though they are. The claim was mask mandates don't cost anything. In less than a minute I identified several ways in which mask mandates cost something. The claim was refuted. No need to change the subject by trying to say I was claiming something I was not.

No I mean is there even a chance they’re absolutely and completely ineffective.

I don't enjoy wearing a mask but it is a simple low cost and effective way to reduce infections and deaths in this country. I don't see where it became a political issue.
