Overriding local officials is not what I would consider conservative. It’s almost like republicans don’t actually have any ideals.

If “no ideals” result in normal things like children playing on the playground at school not wearing masks, I’ll take it! Look how happy and normal they look!

Why would that even matter?
If you've been vaccinated you're good, if you haven't, it's on you. Plus it doesn't prohibit them from screening for the virus.
No, don't want to wear a mask. Screening out the riff-raff.

If they want unvaccinated cruises, flights, etc, I'm good with that too.

Exactly. All the conservative talk about big government goes out the window to get the outcomes you desire. Lack of consistent standards is why the Republican Party can’t be taken seriously.
Big government is telling me my business cannot discriminate against the unvaccinated.

You mean outcomes like restoration of rights that the government can't infringe on to begin with? What else is government supposed to do? How does this not sound conservative? You have a funny way of framing things when they have outcomes you don't desire.

Do me a favor, say something insulting about Xi Jinping.

It will be fine

An executive imposing his beliefs on local governments and individual businesses sounds conservative to you? Sure.

Write something negative about China taking over Hong Kong, Taiwan, or their current occupation of Tibet. Or write about the Uyghur genocide.
China is not our friend. They are hell bent on world domination. We should move our critical manufacturing out of China. We should do everything in our power to minimize the role they play worldwide, especially in developing nations.

The British did that in 1997, the treaty they signed with China is supposed to give Hong Kong the right to self-govern until 2047. For us to intervene in Hong Kong's defense would likely mean declaring, or threatening to declare, all out war with China. If Trump did that you would say he was wrong, and you say he is wrong to not intervene. He may be doing a terrible job of using diplomacy and economic sanctions to keep China in line, but at least he's not too quick to go in, guns blazin'.

Protection of individual liberty and inalienable rights is one of the powers we have delegated to government. I don't think he's going far enough. He should be putting people in jail for infringing on other people's rights. It's absurd to think that owning a business gives you the power to take people's rights away. All the government has to do is threaten to fine a business if they don't infringe on people's rights, which is what they have been doing, and now the government has an end run around the constitution and the principles upon which our republic was built. SMH.

You don't like employing people or doing business with people who have inalienable rights, amend the constitution.

What do you think we should do? What about Russia?

I asked you. If war is necessary, I'm not opposed to it. I'm just opposed to war for the sole sake of benefiting the wealthy. The main reason that I doubt we'll go to war with China is that there are too many complex intertanglements between certain politicians and Chinese interests, which would put said politicians at risk of actually being guilty of treason. Not that I have faith in the politicized DOJ and Judiciary to actually follow through on such charges.

As for Russia, it's hard to say. I think they are in the same boat we are in a lot of ways, without the benefit of being an economic superpower anymore. I don't see them as a threat, and potentially (though probably not with this administration) an ally if things go south with China.

Do you think we should for some reason?

That was a response to sporty's post saying we should do everything in our power to minimize the impact of China on the rest of the world. I was curious if that included declaring war. Of course roadrunner deflected and put the question back to me.

If China were to invade Taiwan tomorrow and TSMC's advanced chip fabrication plants were taken over/destroyed in the fighting/blown up by retreating Taiwanese, the production of consumer electronics worldwide would be absolutely :censored2:ed. The upcoming buildout of their new facilities in Arizona cannot come soon enough.

Yep. I deleted my last post after I saw your clarify your thoughts on China in the post after it.
