If China were to invade Taiwan tomorrow and TSMC's advanced chip fabrication plants were taken over/destroyed in the fighting/blown up by retreating Taiwanese, the production of consumer electronics worldwide would be absolutely *ed. The upcoming buildout of their new facilities in Arizona cannot come soon enough.

Yep. I deleted my last post after I saw your clarify your thoughts on China in the post after it.

We're starting to mine lithium in California and AZ, I believe, and CA has facilities for the clean refining of rare earth metals.

Hadn't heard about that. Good to know. Last I'd heard, rare earth refining was too dirty to be done under US environmental regulations in a cost effective way or something.

That was a response to sporty's post saying we should do everything in our power to minimize the impact of China on the rest of the world. I was curious if that included declaring war. Of course roadrunner deflected and put the question back to me.
You seem to think that you are the only one who is allowed to ask questions, and that I am somehow obligated to answer them. That’s very elitist of you, and a bit condescending, as well as totally expected.

I’ll give you an answer though. Military conflict with China should be avoided at all costs.

Judge me.
"We do take some extra precautions for him because he is the president of the United States," she said, according to Mediaite. "But I would say that people should follow the CDC guidelines and they should take advantage of getting the vaccine, getting fully vaccinated, and taking that mask off, particularly as the weather grows so beautiful and we all want to be outside."

I asked first, and I answered even when you didn't. Sorry if you think treating people as equal is "elitist". So we should do everything in our power to limit China, but not declare war? Ok. Got it. Lol. So more trade wars like Trump was doing? Retaliatory industrial espionage, as if China had any IP they didn't steal from us in the first place. Any other ideas?

No, it was just cheaper to have China do it and dump the resulting toxic sludge into their rural area's water supply. With Trump's tarrifs the CA refinery could operate at a profit.

I asked first? My goodness, are you a child like dido?

Tariffs don't work, we pay them. We need a better foreign policy. We haven't had one since....?

Invest in Africa, help others, open immigration up, provide higher education to the smartest immigrants, show them how great America is and let them take those ideals back to their home countries. Lead by example, not by force and bribery.

What do you want? I don't want to go to war with a country that can afford to lose a billion people and still have more people than we have.

You’re just showing off your ignorance when it comes to the federalist structure of our government and the constitutional powers given to states over local governments.
I’m talking about basic principles not arguing legal authority. If a small town elects a council and mayor and they decide they want people wearing masks why should some executive in a state Capitol overrule them? As a matter of principle of the smallest government being the most responsive to the population why would you support it? Shouldn’t the people of that town be free to make their own decisions?

I would agree with that if they weren’t leftists who are scum of the earth. They are lucky they governor isn’t calling in the national guard to force them to march to Cuba. I’d have no problem with that either.

You people try to make reasonable arguments, but only to get unreasonable things. Governor has legal authority to force freedom upon his citizens. If local counties were violating lockdown rules you wouldn’t be in here crying about that.

You people are just scumbags.

What are you rambling about? Local counties have been disregarding state mandates the entire pandemic. Rednecks have worn contracting and spreading the virus as a badge of honor.

Then you support segregation as imposed by the majority. Wow.
