Been doing this for 20 years in the same Center that is mostly made-up of some really crappy areas. These kind of encounters are what we consider normal. When we consider the middle finger as our Center's "wave", you know something is jacked-up in this area. You guys are lucky. The ones that get to deliver in these suburban upscale areas where people make you cookies, know you by name, and leave warm apple Pie to cool on their window ledges. Here, there are bars on windows, gates over screen doors, and people scream "WHO IS IT?!" at the top of their lungs when you knock because they're afraid you're the cops, or there to rob them. It's just your average day in the "hood".

You say you grew up and live near by. Why not be their ray of sunshine instead being a jack wagon?

We dont have a big section of town that is the "hood" but its there and I cover it from time to time. Hood rats out and dealers on the corner.

I am the only one who DRs in this area because I talk to and know these people. Ive helped a few out with info on where and how to get help for a few things.

Following up on the stupid nonexistent logic of your comment, it must certainly be better to let people starve and die on the street instead of help them out. Let's assume that 30 to 40 percent are cheating the system. That leaves 60 to 70 percent who might be in real need. I mean, the richest nation on earth has to hold on to every penny and protect the rights of its citizens to express their views. Even someone like you.

I'm sure that every single one of us seasonals slacks off the rest of the time. I learned many tips about slacking off from watching some of the drivers I met this season.

To My Fellow UPS Workers,

The purpose of this discussion thread is not to gripe or complain about conditions at UPS, management, the Union or for that matter anything at all about UPS. The sole purpose of this discussion thread is to discuss the following work-related issue with other employees as an initial step in engaging in some concerted activity to bring this issue up to the company as a group.

It is my hope that by addressing this issue in concert we not only be working for our own mutual aid, protection and improved working conditions, but we will be working for the benefit of any and all coworkers that may have been adversely affected by this issue.

For discussion,

It was reported to me that there have been a lot of complaints about the Plant Engineering Department's inability or unwillingness to adequately heat the buildings. This is not a new topic. It has been addressed and discussed multiple times here at the BC.

Along with that report came a new one to me and I thought it worthy of discussion here on the BC.

Someone reported to me that certain areas of their building haven't been cleaned in months. Apparently, in his building the unload primary and sort area hasn't been cleaned in months. He described the area as being loaded with all kinds of trash large and small. He also described the area under the sort as being loaded with spit, spills and sunflower seed shells for months.

He claimed that he and his other workers were working in what amounts to squalor when they have to process ireggs.

UPS has pretty high written standard for the cleanliness of their facilities. It appears to me that based on this persons description, the standards are far from being met.

What is your experience and opinion about the cleanliness of the inside work environment?
