Are we talking about the current size of government or the size of government that Trump apparently wants?
I’m talking about current revenue from income taxes and how large a tariff on imported goods it would take to replace that revenue.

It’s not a trick question, it’s simply replacing revenue with tariffs.

They’re focusing a lot on usaid but that’s only less than 1% of our budget, we’d have to cut our defense budget in half, but that’s probably not a good idea or doable if he’s also planning on messing around with palenstine and talking about going to war with the cartels also

Trump will probably do what he did last time. Cut taxes for the richest, while spending a ton and adding trillions to our deficit, and leaving the next administration to deal with the inflation

But according to Trump, we will have a smaller government. And no need for the current revenue. Didn’t assume you were giving a trick question.

The real question is will he really shrink the size of government or just replace it with the government he wants like most politicians.

I also believe he is a firm believer that AI can replace many of these government workers. Personally I think that creates just as many problems as he thinks he’s fixing getting rid of human beings. We shall see.

Haven’t heard too much recently about USAID recently. They seem to have moved on and found bigger things they say are wasteful and corrupt..

And I agree his last term Trump spent a lot of money and said it was because of Covid. Which ended up being a boondoggle where the money went to everyone, but who needed it.. but I support the idea of a different way getting revenue for the federal government. The tax code is ridiculous and the IRS is unnecessary.

I do agree with a lot of that. And maybe this term will be different but Trump doesn’t have a great track record of not spending less he likes to spend a lot.
No one voted for Trump because they think he's a fiscal conservative. Spending is the legislature's responsibility and I don't expect them to cut spending either. Hopefully we can at least hold the status quo.

That being said DOGE was something I never expected to see to be honest. It's a good start.
Don't let DIDO hear you say that
Flirt with someone else my broke Democrat friend.

I agree he definitely never claimed to be a conservative. And I think something like DOGE is exactly what people have asked for for years but now that we have it is of course politicized. Everyone knows the waste and fraud in the government has been epic for decades.

US Commerce Sec. Lutnick: Trump’s goal is to abolish Internal Revenue Service and let all outsiders pay

yea thats pretty creative. More bring him money to spend on higher priced imports .
I've always been a fan of the idea of a user tax instead of an income tax but this version was new to me.

They completely shut USAID down.

Do you ever get tired of being wrong about everything Lindsey?

Yup.
The House doesn't spend the money Vlad. The House allocates money in a budget. The executive branch spends the money.

Take the border wall. The House under Pelosi denied Trump the needed funds. He figured out away to move some funds around and spent the money on the wall.

Didn't you take civics in high school?
