With the virtual time study, u want to stop complete at delivery point, never stop complete walking back to car. IE measures from package car to where u stop complete. It's a straight line when they measure. They do not measure pathways, they measure the most direct path

Back in my early days when they did time studies, u had the IE guy ride with u. He had a hand held computer and followed u to delivery point for commercial and residential deliveries. U got credit for hand cart, red lights, security, multiple floor deliveries ect... Now with virtual u do not get any credit for anything above. If your route has a lot of buildings with multiple floors with deliveries u r screwed. Virtual time study will only measure from where u r parked to the front of the building. Also if u have a route that has a lot of town houses, u cannot make any time because the driver release point is pretty close to package car. If u want to make bonus u need distance from driver release point to package car

I got time studied on another guys run one time and the IE guy told me, park safe even if it's not close and use the handcart as much as possible. Turns out it added 60 minutes to the guys run.

We always get the lecture at PCMs about all the proper way do things, by the methods. Whether that's "walk it off" vs using driveways or backing or the whole lifting and lowering step by step routine. I always said if we performed every method perfectly, it would add 2-3 hours to the day easily. Amazingly, management suggests these methods save time.

Most direct path is often through the lawn. "Use walkways" they say. Walkways are often inconvenient L shaped paths. With all these issues, management is somehow confused that we're an hour or two paid over day to day.

Pretty sure this is one of the main reasons why I finish later than most people. Always use the walkway unless there is no walkway or it is unsafe. Such as chained dog that I have to walk around or walkway is ice covered or perhaps littered with toys or other tripping hazards. Will also walk through grass if I get two houses at one time that are side by side and it's not a road with a sidewalk. One park location for 2 stops.
