Sure doesn’t help old ankles, thoughStop density increases SPORH. Not adding more spread out stops.

They try to stick to the insanity of all stops being equal. I had a lot of bulk business stops and never hit their desired SPORH. Not even if I was under scratch.I know that but right now they're cutting a lot of routes because volume is down but the routes in are more spread out AND with more stops. I was describing the increased piece count that slows us down. If your car is bricked out, your SPORH is going down because you can't find anything and you're just digging all day.
Just a weird dynamic right now where we feel like it's peak but "volume is way down" and we're going under.
Our center manager says he's doing his best to get stops down. We're running 10-11 hour days by design right now coming down from upper management while having a bunch of drivers layed off. Center manager says he can't get approval for lower stops if over allowed is too high. Like I said, a lot more pieces = crappier load = lower efficiency. Everyone knows that if you go out with 150 pieces vs 300, figuring out which day is more efficient isn't rocket surgery. Except those running UPS can't grasp this concept.
Lol “train someone” I don’t know about where you’re at but management hasn’t done that in quite some time for regular drivers bidding new routes. Honestly, such a terrible management they couldn’t really train anyway.Same here, and they're slow-walking putting drivers on their new bid routes since management doesn't want to train anyone.
Management was banking on nobody filing grievances although that assumption hasn't panned out. Shop steward going into the office with a lot of 9.5 grievances every day.

When I started this job on road supervisors mostly came from the ranks of drivers. A decision of course I would never have made, but I understood why some of them did it. Those road supervisors understood the job and knew how to train you because they could do it as well. Most of those old-school supervisors are long gone and this new batch couldn’t train you how to tie a shoe.Ever since they launched navigation, they stopped training people with few exceptions.
There is no incentive for a driver to go into management now. When I started this job on supervisors mostly came from the ranks of drivers. Correct so the incentive for management to train you well is also gone. It’s a vicious circle of apathy. There is no incentive for a driver to go into management now.
We make more money than they do plus we have a pension
It's embarrassing the way this company is going downhill.Correct so the incentive for management to train you well is also gone. It’s a vicious circle of apathy.
Most of the old school drivers I started with that have retired told me throughout their career. They hoped to leave this company better than when they started. That Hope and desire is now fading away. On both sides.
I just hope it makes it the 8 years I need it to.Correct so the incentive for management to train you well is also gone. It’s a vicious circle of apathy.

FT ORS out here starts in the low 110s, plus MIP and a big 401k contribution. Not a bad start if you can put up with it.I could possibly see some interest coming from low seniority drivers to grab an ORS job if/when volume craters. Still better money than most no degree needed jobs, and if you got thick skin, let theroll baby.

Do I believe they won't? Absolutely not, but I'm not interested in a management job. A young guy with low seniority and 25+ to go? Why not?Better not bigger
Do you really think that aren't going to eliminate management jobs?
Especially with all the buildings they are closing
All that I can tell you is.Do I believe they won't? Absolutely not, but I'm not interested in a management job. A young guy with low seniority and 25+ to go? Why not?
