It's normal in a lot of places for dues to come out, basically as part of working as a new employee.I'm a little confused. Said union dues was coming out. Maybe the OP can go into a little more detail.

At least here they don't take dues out, until you make book. In the mean time you have no guarantees.I'm also confused! What else do you want to know? I haven't worked 90 calendar days yet, but I've been paying union dues since week 1. My PT sup sends me home after 2.5 hours most days.
That's what confused me. They don't do that here. It's normal in a lot of places for dues to come out, basically as part of working as a new employee.
I always thought that with all the crap these newbies go thru that they would be able to stand up for themselves later on. Turns out I was wrong. That's what confused me. They don't do that here.
At ours. I believe they have a certain amount of course they can spread out amongst you all. Less hours means meeting production. Which is what the wigs want. Good numbers. But if you want more work. They will send someone else early and you may stay.Is it typical to be sent home before your 3.5hr guarantee? I'm lucky to get 3 hrs most days. As an unloader, they send me home after my last truck is empty. Can I demand my guarantee even though there is literally no work for me to do? My seniority date is next month so I don't really want to cause waves just yet.
I agree. If you are paying dues, you should be entitled.I always thought that with all the crap these newbies go thru that they would be able to stand up for themselves later on. Turns out I was wrong.
We all went through it. Hang in there kid. Thanks, everyone. Guess I'll try to survive on ramen and lentils until next month.
I never asked this of you....but are you a steward? You have what it takes! That's what confused me. They don't do that here.
No I am not. Even though many want me to run for it.I never asked this of you....but are you a steward? You have what it takes!

Wonder how many quit and never get a refund?
Pretty sure I did that way back whenSounds like he may be paying his initiation fee in weekly installments.
You shouldn't have to do that before you get in the union.Sounds like he may be paying his initiation fee in weekly installments.
And that's why the union wants a high turnover rate for the part timers. You shouldn't have to do it period. No way it costs the Union up to $500 to process a new member. It is gouging, pure and simple.
oh your a driver. Might work differently in the hubWould that cancel the hours from the first one ?
Yea a driver. The reason I was asking is cause I told another fellow PC driver that I got called back right after I clocked out and left and his response was. "make sure the whole second punch is time and a half". So I was just curious if that was a thing. That's when I first started and that particular day I just ran air then they called me right back.oh your a driver. Might work differently in the hub
