The first pkg car I climbed in was a 1958 P400. Froze to death. A plywood bulkhead door painted gray. The floorboard holes for the pedals were 3 times bigger than necessary. Inside lights were like a flashlight with a half dead battery. Brakes pulled everywhere. I thought I was in hog heaven.Appreciate the response. No rudeness intended. And… Sweet ride. Sort top?
We’re all old on this thread and probably hiding the cotton under the hood. Can’t believe we’re talking about those dream rides we used to work in. Can’t believe we survived them.
Those P400's were death traps. There were only a few still around when I started and they were just barely avoiding the scrapyard. The first pkg car I climbed in was a 1958 P400. Froze to death. It's an 2006. 70k miles. It's a soft top. As far as I know, they never put a hard top on a new roadster they sold in America in 2006. The coupe came out that year (hard top). You could buy a top from Europe until about 10 years ago. I found one in a junk yard in MN. 2 years ago. It's a blast to drive.
They stuck me out in the country the first 3 years in one. Got a new 500. It was like having a different job. Those P400's were death traps. There were only a few still around when I started and they were just barely avoiding the scrapyard.
The first bunch of 500's were a lot better than the 400's but it took a couple of years to work out the bugs. The later ones were better. They stuck me out in the country the first 3 years in one. Got a new 500. It was like having a different job.

Terrible in snowThe first bunch of 500's were a lot better than the 400's but it took a couple of years to work out the bugs. The later ones were better.
They changed the tires and it helped. Still nothing like the old high step 600's and 800's that did pretty well in snow. Not like the later trucks that get stuck in an inch of snow.Terrible in snow
Go back to bed--I'm already retired.
