The Edsel probably got all kinds of awards too....where is she now ???? There's just no accounting for taste. Studebaker anyone?

I could be wrong, but weren't those two above companies bought out and taken over by the big 3 ?
Big difference then going bankrupt.

The point I'm making is....I don't care if the car lays eggs and cooks your breakfast....if it's ugly, it's going nowhere. People still want a car that looks good, cool, rad. Many of today's cars I see and think, "what was the designer thinking?? Did he have too much to drink the night before carving that clay model?

Was the edsel your first car in high school?

Peace.

I actually liked the Edsel . I wasn't old enough to drive when it came out. I never had my own car. My dad had a new company car every year and I used that car.....Buick Skylark, Ford Galaxie, etc. My/our first car was a Plymouth Valiant convertible with push button drive....baby blue !!

2011 Mustang has the 4.6 and that is why its cheap...the 2012 has the awesome 5.0. Big difference in value and performance.
No sir. The 2011 was the first year for the new 5.0 making 412 hp and 390 pound foot of torque. The new 2011 3.7l v6 makes 305 hp and starts at a mere $22,000. Both come with either a brand new 6 speed manual or automatic tranny, the v6 can get 31mpg with the 2.71 rearend. The v8 and performance package v6 come with a 3.31. Nice try, but as I said, I shop for cars...alot.

My mistake, i was thinking of the Boss which is a 2012. If they are offering a rebate on the 2011 with the 5.0 then thats a great deal...that motor is badazz.:happy-very:

(NRO) — The purpose of federal fuel-economy mandates is to keep the agenda of green pols hidden lest the public awaken to their enormous costs. Want to make cars fuel efficient? Tax gas. And commit political suicide. So instead we get the stealthy Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) laws, which forces automakers to compromise cars to government standards, not those of customers.
But sometimes those costs still leak out.
The Detroit News’s dogged David Shepardson has unearthed a study by one of world’s most respected automotive research firms that reveals that President Obama’s radical CAFE mandate that vehicles average — average! — 62 MPG by 2025 “could force vehicle prices up by nearly $10,000, reduce sales by 5.5 million vehicles annually, and eliminate more than 260,000 jobs.”
Shepardson is quoting from the Michigan-based Center for Automotive Research and the 260,000 job loss figure (consistent with past job losses from CAFE rule hikes) is another dent in White House’s propaganda that Green creates jobs.
The CAR study also reveals that Obama’s NHTSA and EPA have been gaming the figures when it comes to the cost of their new rules. The center’s study predicts it will cost between $3,744 and $9,790 per vehicle, while the agencies have low-balled the figure at $770 to $3,500 per vehicle.

[h=3]Labor Lawyer Explains Why Boeing Shouldn't Be Allowed to Make Airplanes in Right to Work South[/h]Labor lawyer Thomas Geoghegan gives the other reason: Southerners are too inferior to do competent work.
This country is in a debt crisis because we buy abroad much more than we sell. Alas, because of this trade deficit, foreign creditors have the country in their clutches. That's not because of our labor costs — in that respect, we can undersell most of our high-wage, unionized rivals like Germany. It's because we have too many poorly educated and low-skilled workers that are simply unable to compete. …
There are reasons workers in the North get $28 an hour while down in the South they get $14 or even $10. Adam Smith could explain it: "productivity," "skill level," "quality."
An infusion of Marxism, more lavishly unaffordable pensions for educrats, and maybe one day Southerners will stop marrying their cousins and having so many gaps between their teeth.
Meanwhile, liberals will use the word "bigot" as a shillelagh on the head of anyone who doesn't share their snobbish ideology, and many of the nominally German Beemers they like to drive are made in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

I will take that as a compliment and thank-you. We certainly are working at it.

...and it shows. The ground driver who I see most of the day does a good job. He would need to step it up a bit if he were in Brown but he takes care of his customers.

Shippers are looking more at the bottom line and are willing to sacrifice service to reduce shipping costs. You guys keep stepping up your game and they may be able to have both.

This is why I think we will see UPS take steps in 2013 to address the wage differential between our two companies.

I recall once trying to get a sales lead, but once the receiptionist told me fedex arrives early at around 8am, I gave up.

I am on my way to work between 8:15 and 8:30am and pass several Ground trucks already on the road. The Express guys start about the same time we do (9:15). Early morning delivery is a selling point but not nearly as much as lower prices.

I once got on the division mangers S list for pointing out in the AM meeting that if FedEx can get their air in here early enough to be out delivering before we even show up, UPS should be able to do the same. For the next few days I had 10 to 20 stop cuts added to the truck.
