Ground taking over

It will be fine

Well, the fact that Canada went express tells us what we all know , Express is the better option. If it wasn’t they would have went contractors, no ?
The Canadian laws and people are the same as USA , contractors aren’t illegal, but people hate them.
Actually little easier there because healthcare is free.
We’ll see how this shakes out here
Canadian laws are not the same. That’s a bizarre obviously incorrect statement.

Trucking with contractors has been around a long time it’s cheap and FedEx is going cheap . RTD here is the new address take the cans to Ground. Bye bye
Lmao don’t seem like it tho. Express talking about buying out contractors. 99% of the time the cheaper option isn’t the better option

They’re not much different than the US. Lot of layoffs have happened at Canada as well. Remember FedEx never said ground or express will take over, it was this board and Reddit that assumed express was going to be gone. It never made sense to give up the company to contractors and everyone knows that FedEx was gonna be way too cheap to pay off huge amounts of severance to their workers. Come on man

Every station that has combined in the continental US has shifted the majority of the volume to Ground contractors.

They do. They are still under the old model for Ground. Mostly 1 guy 1 truck operations, making scaling Ground up more difficult. Worker protections are stronger making Express layoffs harder. To pretend the laws are the same is just stupid.
So they do have contractors , yes. They’ve had them for years. Those will now be Fedx employees, with benefits and everything.
So rather than going the cheap route as in past ground years , they spend more on making them employees.
See , it’s not stupid. You just didn’t understand little buddy

They can still layoff if they want to, tons of companies laid off workers in Canada during covid and the recent economic slowdown mate. They just don’t wanna give this :censored2: to contractors simple as that

He was one of the “ground is taking over” preachers so now that this news came out yesterday he’s freaking out cause his little business might get bought out by FedEx. It’s good for the employees though now they’ll have benefits and all that.

How many stations? Like 5? They’re just gonna give the super rural station to ground maybe but metros and decent sized areas will all be express. The whole point of this merger is to take more control of the company not give up control. The business is worth hundreds of billions why would they ever give it up to some random contractors

God, your arguments are brain dead. The laws are different up north. It’s a whole different country, genius.

The point of the merger is to save money. Contractors are cheaper in the US. Control has nothing to do with anything.

Well choosing express I guess is saving them money no? In the long run definitely.
Any elimination of redundancy will save them money. My guess is all the issues with customs make it easier to keep all volume in house in Canada. Those considerations will be different in the lower 48.

More than 5 and like it’s been said many times the rural areas have stayed with express it is actually the cities that have been combined. You can live in denial but it’s happening already it isn’t speculation the only thing left is to figure out when it will get to your area.
