Growing up I had a sweet 16 ga. double barrel. When I was about 16 or 17 I traded it for some beer. I can't remember how much but it wasn't a lot. One of the MANY things I wish I still had-----the shotgun -not the beer.

The cartoonist claiming armed citizens don't stop mass shootings is mistaken in his assertion. You can't claim something doesn't work because of a non-event when nothing happening was the desired outcome in the first place. That could only be claimed if something else was certain to happen otherwise.

Not sure if one could ever be prevented unless someone was open carrying. Mitigated is probably the best that could be achieved.

Investigators said Smith was taking selfies with a gun at an apartment in the 9800 block of Forum Park Drive and Bissonnet around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday when the gun accidentally went off, shooting the 19-year-old in the throat and killing him.
Most likely the gun “accidentally went off” because Smith pulled the trigger.
Assuming that a gun is unloaded is a tried and true means of achieving a Darwin Award.
